Hey all... Was it time for a sea change? Well I took it to risk taking coffee to the next step and into what I expect my final run into retirement.... Not anything has taken my liking. We have set up a small roasting company in the hills of Perth called The Jarrahdale Coffee Roasting Company. We are in the researching how and what direction we want to head in, either single origin beans or blended. The science is exciting me and the vast cupping techniques. We are not that long into finilising our business plan and we are off. Kind of scary but so exciting at the same time. It has been strange seeing all what it takes to create a business and how to develop the business direction, without knowing what direction to take. Not bad from an ex-copper eating doughnuts and coffee to roasting green beans. 16 years to retirement, hopefully I will gain enough knowledge to build a really great and exclusive business to eventually pass on the baton onto my 9 year old son. We all have to dream!! I will take on any advice and thanks in advanced of everything you pass onto us. Barry and Dave The Jarrahdale Coffee Roasting Company

Welcome Barry and Dave! What an exciting time. Be sure to keep us up to date with pictures and posts.

Welcome guys! Ah nice, an exciting journey ahead 🙂

askthecoffeeguy

well done Barry and Dave ! who's you're target market and how does your business strategy / roast profile aggressively target them? and what's your point of difference or leading edge in the market place ? you're not obliged to answer any of these questions of course, it's all just food for thought! best of luck and feel free to ask away if we can be of any assistance in your venture - many of us have been working in the industry a very long time plus I think being an ex copper will stand you in good stead when it comes to customers who are late with paeny or who diss your product! best, Pat

Go for it Barry and Dave. I really hope you enjoy the industry as much as I do. I’m sure that you will 🙂 Cheers Paul

Hello! My name is Mickey, I'm a New Englander living in MI for the time being with my beautiful wife! I have many interesting hobbies including miniatures and shaving my head with old fashioned gear. Some of the not-so-unique hobbies would be coffee and tea. I enjoy collecting them, and collecting brewing methods, in addition to experimenting with different ways to brew (IE put an egg white in the grounds while you brew.) I also enjoy all types of history and I'm into spirituality and religion. That's about all there is to me, I look forward to participating in this forum!

🙁hi oh I've heard about this egg white thing and even seen video s can't say it looks too appetising!

Hey folks, somehow found a pathway back here. Not sure how I got lost, but it came to mind to drop in and say g'day. Still loving good coffee, still roast my own with the same Hottop I grabbed off AM way back in they day. Running Bezzera Galatea and Mazzer Major, and now adding my own coffee into a home brewed stout...just delicious.

Koffee_Kosmo

Mmmm — Like the sound of coffee stout beer 🍺 KK

madpierre

How are ya KK? Yeah, it's a good drop, will give ya a yell with next batch mate.

Hi all, I came here because I wanted some advice about a coffee grinder and thought the forum looked like a fun place to hang out and meet some nice people. 🙂

Hi everyone, it has been some 7 years since I first read something about home barista communities in my home country (Netherlands) that got me intrigued. Took another year or 2 to take the plunge and purchase a setup fof home espresso making. Next I found myself registering on a number of forums, of which Coffeeforums.uk is the latest. I like to think I go about my routine with my mid-tier equipment in a casual way as much as possible, but love reading what others have to say about chasing the best cup they can, how meticulous their approach is or isn’t and what equipment they like to use doing so. One is never done learning from others. Cheers! Bert Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met Tapatalk
