Morning coffee - Italian style (Sicilian)
« on: 06/04/2012, 09:25 PM »
My daughter has just explained what she has of a morning; that is what is made for her by her great Aunty

2 eggs
2 sugars
Double shot of coffee
Heated milk

We / I just had one but with a twist as I have more than a stove top  :thumb:

2 Eggs  and sugar beaten with a blender until creamy, add in your double shot and fold/mix it in by hand.

Then use/ add textured/stretched milk to make your drink .

My daughter has the whole lot in a large bowl / super sized cup.  But here you could use a couple of large mugs, split the egg mix and add the amount of milk to suit you taste.

In short it is sort of like a warm / hot coffee egg nog  :coffee2:

Yum!  Ths is where fast food and Muck Muffins have so much to answer for.  We aren't even allowed to serve 1 minute eggs in restaurants any more apparently.  With the quality of eggs used by the big fast outlets who could blame the food health services for that decree.  But the real artisans/cooks with the great product are punished because we as a society have prescribed mediocrity as protection from falling standards.  Tell your clever Prima Donna to enjoy her experience because they are fewer and further between here in the mainstream.  :thumb:

Mmmmm, methinks this is another variation on the verty tasty Italian zabaglione!

You can leave out the coffee;

You can leave out the milk;

You can add some marsala, have as a desert, or whatever!

In fact, after the eggs and sugar folded / beaten together....you can add whatever you like, or have as is but in that case it is not much of a "meal" wrt size.....

Is Zia separating out the egg whites or leaving them in?

I remember mum would be whipping those eggs up like crazy to make sure the three of us would sink one down before running out the door for school (a time when kids were allowed to walk to schools ... And down lanes too can u believe !!)

Even though I'm Sico all the Italians were doing it

I remember crying if my brother or sis got more coffee in it than me.... I guess that's when the addiction started
