Ok so I admit to having a bit of a chest cold, and not getting much sleep last night COMBINED with my go-to coffee machine being on the blink, but still, some things are inexcusable!

So this is how it happened:

Go to turn on coffee machine.

Nothing happened.

Realise that power and boiler rocker switches have been playing up recently, so most likely therein lies the problem

Zip across town and pick up some replacement switches

Take front and side panels of coffee machine and swap out rocker switches - new for old (or so I thought)

Plug in and turn on coffee machine - power up = good

Brew switch working properly = good

Waiting for boiler to engage but nothing happens :(

Decide that any more advanced electronic diagnosis is beyond my ken

Take coffee machine to certified repairer and explain what happened

Half hour later get a phone call saying, "Are you sure that you swapped over both of the rocker switches, coz it looks like the top one is not in mint condition"

Me. "Yes I swapped them both, but no, I replaced the boiler switch with the dud one that I had just removed!!!"

 :head: :head: :head: :head:

Some days good things are not going to happen

SO I'll know tomorrow if its a straight forward repair - even if it is its still $100 for the general inspection  :'( :'( :'(

Still, maters could be worse, and hopefully Ill have my machine back in working order sooner rather than later!

its a simple mistake to make. Especially if you haven't had your morning cup of coffee- which is a dilemma - can't function without coffee but if not functioning how would one make a coffee to function, let alone repair said machine to make coffee to function.

Great story mate!

Hope all goes well and you'll be back in no time.

thanks i actually fired up my sunbeam cafe series 'spare' machine and made myself a coffee before I started working on the rancilio, but I hadnt dialed it properly so the coffee was only half assed - and therein lies the problem:  not enough brain power to do the job properly!

Can happen to any of us!

I once called a pump repairer out for a warranty call because the water-tank pump was pulsing.  He asked if I'd checked the line for debris and I said of course I have.  I then unscrewed the threaded union coupling freeing up the intake, held it up for him, said see..... And a rock rolled out.  He did not have a sense of humour and I had to pay the $75 call out fee.

Me too i mean i love the espresso shots from my cafe series but the milk production leaves a lot to be desire

On s brighter note did you know that if you put an already extracted cold brew on a low heat and let it simmer for a bit it makes a super concentrated coffee concentrate ?

Found this out the hard way this morning but I did get a lot of washing done ..

This gives me an idea, caramelise some sugar and mix in the super concentrated coffee and there you have an icing glaze for a cake....

Already did something similar by adding organic coconut treacle to the mix then reducing it on the stove = yum!
