SA certainly has its good points, however crossing the border into South Australia from any of the other states is a little like traveling back in time by 30 years.

Conversely Adelaide is probably one of Australia's most livable cities.

Guess you cant have it all. :)

Morning Sue, your right, we all tend to be a little parochial.

How goes it with the quest? :)

Probably Db, I know I tend to live in my own little bubble, oblivious to what is going on in the outside world.

The quest is going well. As mentioned before I am selling off some of my huge perfume collection to fund it, stuff is selling but I did suffer a minor setback yesterday when a "perfume unicorn" showed up on the eebs and I just couldn't say no  ::). That aside, the funds are coming together nicely.

There are a couple of machines that will be making their way to this great state of ours in the near future and then I guess it will be decision time. Until then I plod along with the Icona  :P..

Yep, I wouldn't sweat it!  What's more 76.5% of statistics are inaccurately gathered ;)

No doubt Cannstar will come out with some results for the publicly lauded most satisfying instant (dependant on whom sponsors the 'research').

Instant isn't such a bad thing.

a) it is often the spring board from which consumers jump to a better level of coffee (brewed coffee)
b) when travelling and you don't have access to good coffee, it can be used simply for "medicinal purposes" to feed the caffeine monster in your body.....OR.......you can go cold turkey.
c) sometimes a cup of instant is better than a cup of rubbish brewed coffee.....now that's "eek" (the rubbish brewed)...but it is sometimes so !

So I generally weigh up the individual situation before deciding what coffee to go for, or not.

And, its a hot wet brown drink that has a place, just like tea and bonox and sundry other beverages  ;D

Yeah .. FC .. it's easy to  :D  at Instant drinkers now .. only most of us, if not all .. have bean there in our early days before deciding to take it to another level. What I find a little odd .. is people who have had an espresso machine at home at least for a few years .. and yet still accept and can drink a cup of instant coffee swill.

yes...it's interesting that it doesn't need to be "that bad" (swill)...

Many don't realise (or consider) that if you line up 10 people and give them the same jar of instant, jug and water, but a selection of differing cups/mugs and a selection of spoons, you will still end up with 10 different results in the cup because there too, you need a degree of standardisation in the way the cuppa is made.

Its just hot brown water, but it can be made to taste pretty aweful by anyone's individual technique or flavour preference...and yet, it should be so simple.

Take a look on the side of a can in nescafe...haven't had a look for a long time but there used to be a legend somewhere in the fine print that advised there were so many "standard" cups in the can or some such thing. To get down to the nitty gritty, you need a standard measured dose, and a standard volume coffee cup. Somewhere in all the miriad interpretations of anyone's particular favourite instant coffee, is a "STANDARD CUP", which will have a totally different flavour to something made using entirely different proportions.

Meaning...it doesn't need to be that bad, if it (like everything else) is made with care. Food (coffee) for thought  ^-^.

And....in my travels I really have had cups of brewed coffee that would be better called poison, and where a well made instant would have been better.
