Hi UNM,

I'm an Aussie. Spent 5 years in Wellington after my wife got a job with the Ministry of Social Development. We came home with an extra child, and my in-laws are horrified that he may play for the All Blacks!

Loved my time over there, and I think I was really fortunate to be immersed in the cafe culture in Wellington.

NNL . has two regular blends ... the white: roasted by Black Sheep /  /  the black: roasted to 3rd Crack ...'s specifications

confused yet?  ..  ;D

This coming Sunday, the Oracle will be hosting Jan Powers Farmers Markets - It'll be super busy for us, but if you can get the chance to say hello, please do introduce yourself. I'm the guy behind the grinders. The farmers markets though are our busiest days ... so be prepared to fight the masses.  OH .. there will be freshly roasted beans available for home. Both the BLEND (espresso roast) - "San Jose's Little Secret" and the Single Origin (filter roast) - El Salvador San Jose. Mention you're a Crema member for $2 discount.

Hi Leigh :)

I have a feeling we are going to be doing a lot of catching up over the next few months! Can't believe Sydney is only 2 weeks away.

Yes Matt,
Based on the Goldie - I have facilities in Ashmore, let me know next time you're down and I can host you there.

Funny story ..I was very honoured to serve you coffee on Sunday (pressure much, making a coffee for the Qld WBC reigning champ  ;D  ), then on the Tuesday morning, I was up at NeliCoffee .. they had a newspaper clipping of you championing filter coffees displayed on their brew bar ( :thumb: for filter ) ! and .. third times a charm ... you sign up here Tuesday night.

so ..  I guess ...  Nice to have almost met you   looking forward to next time.

KK

Sure .. 36 year old Canadian / Australian .. been in the coffee industry for just about a year. Been a coffee geek for about 7 years. I recently started working as a service coordinator for Wolff Coffee Roasters here in Brisbane. We are Australia's only authorised Probat agent. My role involves everything from day to day operations in the roastery ( not yet including roasting coffee ) as well as Probat sales. Its an awesome job that I absolutely love .. how often do you find a mon - fri job in coffee?

I also have a coffee blog called BNE Coffee .. www.bnecoffee.net .. although since starting at this job I haven't had much time to do anything with the blog.

Outside of coffee I am heavily involved in my church and a few other side projects.

So .. thats me in a nutshell .. ( help help .. I'm stuck in a nutshell )

The main bit that looks so bad, is the MAIN group head.....  This is LOOKS and not overly significant.  Clean with a hard tooth brush or at the most a small brass brush.  Bunnings / Super cheep Auto have them in sets of 3.

And you can see the main block  here

The status of the collar is part of the reason that your locking in at 4:30 - 5...

Here is a new one.

This is not a big deal, so long as it seals.  As a short term fix get a spacer, Sunbeam may even send one out for free if you ask them.  Most coffee machines use spacers at some stage see here.

A: Clean the main head and treat with rice bran oil...

B: Get a spacer

C: So long as it does not leak; your fine and it should last another  6 to 12 months at least.

I will see if I can find the pics, but your hubby OR you can mod the lugs on the PF and that will also help to make it last longer...
AM

What is PF and what do you mean. I think I have been worried about nothing just shocked about seeing it like that. I have also in looking for my solutions EVERYWHERE learned a lot about over dosing the basket, which will be corrected next cup.

Thanks for all your help I will ask for the new collar soon. Can't push it. He just booked us a trip to Bali in October.

Thanks again
Dawn

PF = PortaFilter (or group handle). The bit you take out to fill with coffee and then lock into the group head.

And Welcome to crema!
