The Hipster is dead.
« on: 30/05/2015, 10:19 AM »
So we are told by this article,

 http://www.theage.com.au/entertainment/who-killed-the-hipster-and-why-did-we-hate-him-so-much-anyway-20150525-gh7hcd.html

"Everyone agreed that the hipster had it coming. For someone more concerned with recherche ways of making coffee than harming his fellow man, he had made a lot of enemies. You could tell from the graffiti that had begun to appear under viaducts — "Hipsters Go Home", "Dear Hipsters, You Still Suck" and "Hipsters Die" — or the online hate blogs such as Hackney Hipster Hate, Look at This F---in' Hipster, Keep Calm and Kill all Hipsters."

Perhaps in London, they (Hipsters) still seem to be quite prolific in Oz, guess it will take a year or two for our lot to get the message.

Must admit I had to look up the meaning of the word recherche. ::)

Back in my day we had Hippie's, just as weird as the current crop.

Cheers,

Dry Bean.

Great article. These days I'm afraid to visit a cafe as this guy (in the photo) is always there.

This is great!  There is a very good holes in the wall cafe in the Brisbane CBD staffed exclusively by hipsters.  One of them even put down his mobile phone to make me a coffee but not once did I get eye contact until I mentioned the FB80.  I think according to hipster law we are married now....

Well they are still alive in Melbourne but at least they are enjoying their grapefruit juice coffee while drinking it from the bin, where they both belong. Lol

For some unfathomable reason I wish they (hipsters) had not taken it upon themselves to be the purveyors of our favorite beverage, I always feel uneasy when some scruffy bearded dude wearing a trilby and clothing he has slept in is making my coffee. :stir
