bummer well these things do tend to crop up from time to time especially if you're willing to pay shipment from interstate - but then all of a sudden its no longer such a bargain by the time you factor in freight etc...

Unfortunately I missed out on it as someone beat us to viewing it.
I previously had a 2 group Rancilio which I got a sparky to disengage one of the elements, and ran off a 10amp plug.
Took an extra couple of minutes to heat up but was perfectly fine.

At this house though, the machine would be situated outside, under the house, and it will be easy to get 15A to it.

Just a shame we missed out on it.
Well another 3 Years have gone by...and still enjoying my coffees each day.
Thought I'd let people know as it's coming up to Mothers Day and the Machines are still out there.

Thanks for continuing this thread along Gaza and others too.

My M-I-L insists father in law should have a machine for upcoming birthday (maybe squeeze it in early as Father's day).  While I'd like to help get them to something like the Oscar II their budget probably keeps them to the EM7000 / EM7100 / Brev BES870 mark.  Will keep an eye out for any good pricing on these.

Haha nice! It's weird, I keep seeing it written around that beans like Kenyans can be taken much darker than others, but surely that would mute alot of the amazing acidity and fruity characteristics of the bean?
yeah it's an awesome bean alright been through 1kg just in the last two weeks alone !

Ah awesome, thanks Pat! Yeah a stunning bean hey...

I've only got the old school auto Behmor without manual controls so can't alter those parameters. I still really don't understand all the different manual controls anyway (as in the reason why to ramp up fast, coast a bit then drop heat/apply more heat etc etc), don't understand the reasoning behind all the approaches hence my hesitation in getting the manual control panel to install, but that's great it gets a good brew out of it for ya!

Can't wait to try this one again, has been awhile...
hey Simon

I've got 5kg of similar green beans - Kenya AAA bold - I've been pushing them a bit harder in my roast profile on the behmor

i tend to ramp to first crack then temperature drop at end of FC and coast for 2 mins before applying heat once again and pulling the roast at the first snips of second crack

i don't seem to get enough colour on the beans for my liking otherwise and im loving them as SO espresso and in my cold brew coffee at the moment - sold a truck load of cold brew at the markets last weekend - so can't be doing too badly !

I'm glad you like it :)
I was in the same position many years back. I had a Silvia and was looking at a first HX.
I asked a retailer "will I notice a big difference between a PID'ed Siliva and an HX." He replied "if you have to ask that, you haven't experienced one."
At the time I thought that seemed a little salesy but when I got hold of my HX I quickly understood.
"Driving" an HX machine is an experience.
Single boiler:HX is like small hatchback:big V8.

Thanks for your welcomes guys,
Thanks kbean for the buyers guide, it is nice and concise with many questions answered.

Im trying to weigh up just how much better a shot I can get from an hx.  When I get my act together, I'm pretty happy with the double shots from the pl41plus
Possibly I just need an E61 group head to look at!
