Bean Green being brilliant
« on: 17/06/2014, 07:42 PM »
Okay,

I was going to add to the 2012 thread but the message board suggested a new topic....

Ordered 25 kg of beans on 01/06/14, left Bean Green on 02/06/14 and went missing somewhere between Brisbane and Sydney.

Left a voicemail with Brendan Friday afternoon 13th that we haven't seen anything, he responds withing 20 minutes regarding this, email from him on SATURDAY!!!! 14th that he has them on the case and if nothing happens he will resend the order....

Original order turns up this afternoon 1pm.

Brendan is full of apologies for something that he has no control over (which I told him).

Cremas, if you are buying beans I feel the need to point you in this direction. Great man, great service and deserves our business.

#fanforlife

That hashtag doesn't appear very often, trust me  ^-^. Happened with Taylor Made but that is another story....

Couldn't agree more - the service is the best part of Bean Green's business.

Full disclosure: I have commercial arrangements with Bezzera (AU) and Londinium Espresso. I am not required to market them on this forum & any opinions expressed are my own.

Agree with everything said. Awesome set up and Brendan has my business forever. My only gripe is the website. It's clunky, buggy and a PITA to use compared to the old one. Please go back to old format Brendan. Basic but worked like a dream.  :thumb:

Was at the warehouse yesterday picking up some new beans to play with ( a new yirg for c-man to try) hung out with Brendan for a while had a few coffees.
Not only are these guys great to do business with they are also really nice people.
For a small business platform competing with a lot of big players to offer the level of service they do is amazing.
As others have said if you need some green give these guys a go.

Bean Green.

Pros:

Over 60 varieties of beans.
Excellent pricing.
Outstanding Quality.
Free shipping for orders over $75.
Beans sold in 1kg increments (less for Geisha).
Accurate and informative product information.
No misleading descriptions (marketing terms like "bold syrupy pours at Roast level #9" are not used).
Based in QLD.
Fantastic service.

Cons:

Having to share the service with technology challenged tradies.  :stir

I agree, Bean Green do have a good range of beans and are certainly a good company to deal with.

Unfortunately their prices have risen over the past few months to the point that I've reverted to my previous supplier, even taking the $75 order free shipping into account the cost per order difference is noticeable.

Each to their own mate.  :thumb:

Given shipping adds another $2/kg cost (on a 10kg order, and even more for lesser amounts), I find it hard to find better value for money elsewhere. As other sites do not sell the exact same bean, it is not an accurate comparison in my view.

I don't base my bean purchases on price, rather the quality of the bean. Each site offers beans for sale that are chosen by someone according to their tastes. I find my taste in beans does not always align with others.

That said, the variety (and let us not forget QUALITY) of beans  offered by site sponsors Bean Green, Ministry Grounds and mycuppa is awesome and surpasses anything else on the market.

The ability to buy one kg quantities from our sponsors is an exceptional service that is widely appreciated.

People are free to buy from whomever they want. This thread is to give Brendan and his efforts some well deserved recognition that has been lacking, or simply taken for granted. The same must be said about Jeff and Neil.

Prices rise because the coffee industry is currently being influenced by the actions of commodity traders, driving up the price of raw coffee due to perceived shortages at some origins - it has zero to do with individual business strategies - roasters and others who trade in raw coffee are being done over in a rising market.

Currently, coffee roasters in Australia are mostly absorbing price increases up to $3 a kilo (raw) and on a couple of tons per week, that adds up quickly.

Every business will be at a different cycle in terms of the forward contracts they have in place but generally speaking most will be at the end of any contracts they had in place from Jan 2014 - so price rises are kicking in at various stages and will continue to do so for months yet.

On the retail side, there is very little sympathy or understanding for price increases despite the nature of a commodity product - because there is an ever-increasing over-supply of capacity.

Thank you for this post.  I completely agree.  I've patronised most if not all including Jamaica Blue Company (yes expensive but quite nice).  I've not been a member of any other co-op for a bit now, but thanks to some generous peeps here I've received a few greens to try.  Not one not has been better than, or as good even as anything, yes anything from BeanGreen, MyCuppa or Ministry of Grounds.

That said I reckon beangreen are unique in the market place for small-timers like me who want the very best!

I've actually noticed the opposite, some of Brendan's staples have dropped in price. The specials went from $8 to $10 about 12 months back and yep at $2/kg for freight - I do not know any supplier in Australia of Green Beans who can beat Brendan on price and quality.

And today I received a lovely 5kg bag of Sumatran Lake Tawar from Neil... Love supporting our sponsors  :thumb:

Good stuff.

Last order I had to establish yet another account and log into it twice. Once that was done the order went smoothly.
