After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Importing goods - fees charged.

Everyone has done it, purchased goods from overseas, for a number of reasons, which are irrelevant. We are part of a global economy so we have to accept the practice.
My question is, what are you being charged for freight and shipping? Some goods come in freight free, while others have a huge freight cost. Shipping varies, and I am hoping for information about some of your experiences. I am seeking car parts from the US [headlights, and other bits], as the local "genuine" product is ridiculous in price. I have been quoted over $200 shipping for a package the size of a coffee machine, but lighter. When questioned, the reply was that I can supply my own label, if I can source cheaper freight. Theirs includes duty and customs.
Given the products are well below $1000, i believe no gst, customs or duty applies. I think they are working on old information. Anyway, if anyone has had any experiences with freight charges, please let us know. Also, if you have an in depth knowledge of what is due, or a link to a relevant source, please let us know. Also, a recommendation of a trusted freight company would be appreciated.
Thanks upfront to all who contribute.
