Glass mugs - beware

I recently purchased a few clear glass mugs via Ebay. Two of them have broken while pouring a shot. I now regard them as being very dangerous and have approached the seller and am awaiting their reply. These mugs weren't that cheap and I am of the opinion I should take this further in an effort to force a recall. Imgagine if one broke while drinking from it. Major burns I would think.

In the meantime, where can I purchase quality glass muggs with large capacity?

That's not normal with glass breaking as you described I mean to say that glass is blown or formed from a near molten form ? As for your question to purchasing large glass mugs The best place is a commercial cafe equipment place The best type is the hardened type similar to Pyrex ,  Duralex ect . Not good mate.  Let us know how you go getting a response from that seller.  Any chance of a link to the product so we can see what you are talking about.  You can link to ebay on the forum. Anyway, as KK said Duralex are good (stuff used in cafes a lot), and I really like my Bodum Pavina Double Wall glasses.  I use a 250ml for a latte, and 350ml for the wife's Chai (she likes it milky).  They also do a nice small one, but I have about 6 Duralex piccolo glasses already.

Yep, another vote for duralex. Cheap as chips, sturdy.

While it is not the Ebay sellers fault as such mentioning the name of the manufacturer of the glasses if known would be great due to the 'current' issue with the ones you received being a safety one. Duralax for Cafe crash and bash are great tough glass but I love my Bodum Pavina's and don't let others do the dishes

can I ask why you prefer glass over porcelain? Also, what kind of brew are you drinking in them? I've seen a bit of a trend in drinking filter coffee from mason jars. Pretty cool. Not elegant however!

I use Porcelain or Ceramic most of the time but I also like the looking at the brew from both sides aspect of glass in particular with Espresso or milk base drinks. In Melbourne most places serving Brewed coffees are serving in glass of one sort or another from Jars to Balloon glasses and all sorts. I think seven seeds are still using ceramics and the brew was coming in a preheated Saki type jugs last time I had one there. As I like to take my time over a brewed coffee as it cools I do use ceramics at home most times.

Very nasty  ??? , looks like they either fluffed or omitted the tempering stage at manufacture. Not all glass is post tempered BTW but it makes a lot of difference as it reduces any internal stresses in the structure.
