Sunbeam EM6910 - 1 Year Old Today !

It is exactly 1 year ago today, that my EM6910 was replaced (this is my 3rd Machine I think).

And the amazing thing is, no problems at all during that 12 month period.....although a far cry from previous experiences of myself, and others.

Just wondering, have the threads gone quiet because the design/manufacturing issues have been resolved....or have people simply given up.

I don't want to sound like a nay-sayer, but isn't the warranty period 1 year?   There's a section within Murphy's lawbook that refers to warranties, and I shall paraphrase it as follows:- "The item to which the said warranty applies shall not fail within the said warranty period.

Considering the original EM6900 was purchased nearly 3 years ago, my "Warranty Period" has been well and truly exceeded   Certainly raises a question though.  If it died tomorrow, and I had to pay for a new machine....would I buy another.  Tough question.  :-/

Ah yes...but even allowing for the ongoing costs of beans.....the Sunbeam hobby is a lot cheaper than the Canon one  ;D

So now a few years on...  How is it going or NOT ?

....and a few more years on (has had it's 4th Birthday)....still going strong  I will admit that this particular machine receives regular cleaning and descale with the relevant Sunbeam Tablets so maybe that has aided in its' longevity.

Excellent result. I'm not sure how many 4yo 6910's there are out there. Obviously your care and attention has paid off. How many per day does it make ?

On average, 3 a day....sometimes more in the weekend especially when visitors arrive. Of course there are also quiet periods when you venture off for a holiday and hope the destination has heard of cappucino  :D Apart from a replacement seal, this machine has had no other changes to parts (eg Collar)

Ahhh that explains it. My was doing 50 - 60 per week minimum until I killed the steam side and got too frustrated with it. I donated it to AM who got it cranking again it has returned to active duty. It had a slightly worn collar and dodgy steam switch but I never had to put a seal it.

Indeed, but the current machine does them with such incredible ease its silly. Milk takes 12 seconds, not 2 minutes like the 6910 :D

That's only 3.5 coffees each day per person in the house. It's not that many. I'd hit that pretty much every day, often before midday.

I used to have a similar intake, but 2 bouts of Kidney Stones slows you down and encourages you to reach for the bottle of water on occasions

Another Year on...and I think it is about to give up the ghost....after 5 Years. Steam Wand makes several attempts before it will kick in fully.  Has been happening for the last month or so.....but as of today, I have been waiting nearly an hour and it still won't play. Looks like it may be time to invest in another machine

Probably happy to go with the Sunbeam EM7000 except for the current perception that I'd be getting ripped off. Up until Sunday, I could get the EM7000 with Grinder (Bonus offer via redemption) for $719 at DJ's. Now that the Bonus offer has ended, $719 for just the EM7000 seems wrong

throwing the grinder in is just their way of getting rid of them.  :D my 6910 is 15 months old now, makes on average about 30-40 coffees a week and hasn't missed a beat.  its a fairly long run for a product (over 6 years now i believe) and the later ones are definitely better than the early ones.
