After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

    derrilex, Did you get hold of AM for a rumage in his shed?  He had quiet a few grinders on display at the last meet and now that he's got lever machine, he will need to reduce his toys! :)

    I think they are all monsters, unless he lets his eureka fall out of the cupboard ( no chance in hell). In hindsight and with a lot more research I'm certain I'll buy BF's I mini if it hasnt gone already.  Just waiting for the PM reply.

    Yep, the BF grinder is where I'd be going but just to play devil's advocate have you driven past diBella for a gander at an MDF?  At that price I'd certainly be torn and not just for the instant gratification.

    Nah, no drive by (buy). I know what would happen if I did  ^-^. I couldn't help myself if I bought a MDF. Out with the dremel to make it doserless and do the stepless mod. One day if one comes up cheap on ebay. They certainly are cheap as chips for a flat burr grinder though. Then again if BF has sold his or there is someone ahead of me in  the line then the MDF will be very hard to ignore for a impulse / consolation buy.

    The Gaggia MDF uses a lot of plastic.  Invest a smidge more and you'll have a grinder to keep for years.

    Agree. BF must still be away.  Anywho, it matters not. I'm off to Straddy for 3 weeks tomorrow so the 480 gets to go to Straddy too, along with a fully packed pajero and a 6x4 box trailer. Just as bad as moving house. Bought a shitload of different beans and cant wait to have a brew while staring out to sea

    Why not create a seasonal blend then with all those beans........just about all the other Melbourne roasters have.........yours can be authentic ! :D

    Thats the plan MC. I have some PNG and columbian SO and a few different blends that I "add " to. I like to mix up a frankenstein blend but never write down the details of the good ones  :head: All differing roast dates too so it should be interesting. Got 2.5 kg to play with and might have to bum so beans on the island from somewhere if I run short ;D

    Well I can only assume that BF's I mini is gone or no longer up for sale as I haven't heard anything so, Ive found a good breakdown diagram of the MDF and along with Kelsey's stepless mod find, I might have a dabble. Only because its going to rain all week and chippies and rain dont mix  :rofl: :rofl:

    Nice KK, that should make a good piece of hardwood, but what sort I wonder. Might have been a split in that piece tho, not seen until cut. Happens a lot at work.
