After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

  • I have logged a number of profiles with and without beans in the Behmor and find it very useful for understanding what is going on with the roasts. There is a template floating around on another site that nominated a location for drilling a hole and inserting a probe. There are two benefits of using the template 1 It is in a clear spot with respect of wiring so eliminates any nasty accidents 2 It gives all users a similar reference point for comparing results. As you stated it is not bean temperature and as such you do see some fast reactions when elements go on and off but if you extrapolate you will have a much better understanding of what is going on inside the roaster. The actual bean temp will not move as fast as the temp at the point of measuring which is above the drum. I get very frustrated as I cannot control the profile the way I can with a corretto and have considered pulling it apart and controlling the elements manually using theatre lighting dimmers.  I did not use the Behmor for a while but recently went back to it because I needed to do some quick and easy roasts to top up supplies. I was surprised at how good the results were and how repeatable they were so I have been running a number of roasts lately with great results. If you can nominate a specific profile you are interested in I may have a graph I can attach
  • No denying that the behmor roasts are excellent, I've been knocking out heaps of coffee for the whole family over Xmas  to critical acclaim and am really happy with every coffee I've roasted over last 6 months other than 1 charcoal lot. I got the temp probe for xmas (inserted using the template on CS) and probably need to get over the fact that the graph is a bit more mountains than curve. At least I now have a multi meter!!
