After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

  • great Pat, disappointed I wasn't able to get by last weekend  :(
  • I badly want to hop a plane...  :thumb:
  • Well I have to say I dont know when I've enjoyed making coffee more - the quality in the cup speaks for itself and the powerful steam action means that even the busiest rush is a dream Pretty sure the price tag warrants the enjoyment factor alone! p
  • I would really love to try a mirage coffee. Maybe next trip down south...
  • Thanks for that - the coffee it produces is pretty damn superb! I feel very fortunate that I get to work on it and taste the coffee it produces most days!
  • Congrats pat on a fantastic machine. I'm happy to hear it has been worth the effort for you. It's on my to do list next time I'm down in Melbourne.

Thanks Ronin, the coffee it makes just keeps geting better and better swapped out the La marzocco baskets today for VST baskets instead and the difference is palpable - thick crema which takes longer to build for a beautiful gradual extraction, with tons of added body!
  • Hi Pat Just wondering how the Mirage is travelling now that you have put a few miles into her. Has it still been a good investment, anything you don
  • According to his Facebook, Pat has or is about to sell Foxy Brown, so you've got a week or two to try his coffee before somebody takes over.
  • Thanks Jonathon as long as the Mirage stays I will still go check them out.  ;D Oh and wish Pat all the success both on his sale and any new ventures. Chester
  • H Guys, fingers crossed a pending sale of the cafe is imminent so long as certain conditions are met Mirage is a real dream to work with - industrial build quality combined with incredible design - remember they start with a la marzocco platform and then completely rebuild it I also recently installed laser cut shower screens as well as the VST baskets - and I have to say the resulting coffee is pretty incredible the thing with the shower screens is that the perforations are so small that the coffee oils and grind cant travel back up into the group head - so its effectively self cleaning, as well as allowing for even distribution of water across the shower  screen, as opposed to channeling through the middle (as appears to be the case with most machines) leading to over / under extraction of the puck the machine also still looks and feels brand new - which is a testimony to its build quality and its a pleasure to use I use the foot pump activated steam wand as a hand pump by keeping it on the bench beside me when im working - and its instantaneous activation saves both time and wear and tear on the body did I mention the build quality? its very much mechanical in its operation but it powers up to meet demand - which means that it has no problems coping with even the busiest service anyway, I cant speak highly enough of these machines - nearly one year on and no mechanical issues or faults what so ever - just the usual changing of seals etc Cheers Pat
