After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.
Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.
my ghetto hopper mod.......i have ordered a new baratza hopper direct so once it arrives i will start grinding the lugs off this one, i just didn't want to kill it as the baratza grinder i have as a spare doesn't function without it! Yes thats a takeaway coffee cup cut down to "bridge the gap" between the hopper and the throat for the time being.
[embed=425,349] This was my last pour, 17.6 grams in an EP double basket (dose doesn't even reach the top so i can't distribute) 25 seconds, approx 55 ml Tastes good.......to me! I feel like i should be dosing way higher, tapping the portafilter, scraping the excess off then tamping, but i do none of this, as i grind straight in, tamp lightly (slightly nutating to try and distribute better) then tamp straight down, lock and pour....... Should i grind a LOT courser and overfill (still aiming for 18grams) and do the tap tap on the bench, scrape level then tamp? or be happy with what i have going on here? (i would try this straight away but I'm a bit short of beans at present!!!)
Dosing correctly is important The tamped puck should just barely touch the water dispersion screen when the PF is locked in :thumb: KK
Very true KK I've done the 5c test and all is good in that regard. The level in the puck after tamping is much like it was with my previous grinders. It just seems counter intuitive that with this grinder I don't have to overfill and tap, scrape etc before I tamp. Almost as though I'm grinding much finer than I was with my super jolly E (which I sold prior to getting this so can't compare!) Maybe I was heavily overdosing in the past. Just worried that I've settled on a superfine grind and under dosing when I should be courser and dosing more.
I thought your pour was pretty good actually. Generally, if you are dosing lower and the grind if not right, the pour will increase in volume/flow rate as the shot progresses, but your shot was reasonably consistent over the entire period - which means you have the grind and dose pretty well sorted. depending upon the flow restrictor installed in your machine and the beans you were using (age and roast profile), you may want to tighten it up just a fraction (I would not adjust grind, just updose a fraction) - but of course it's only a theory and it's what you taste is the only thing that matters.

Thanks Jeff, ill give the up dosing a go. I'm unsure of the age or roast profile, bought them from a reputable sponsor, but they don't have a roast date, so I'm guessing fresh, but not sure exactly how fresh! Ill tighten the pour up a bit tomorrow and see how the taste changes, cheers. Ive actually just put an order through for a kilo of your "redemption of the spro" to put through, looking forward to trying it immensely
The 71EK on the bay just ended for $511!?!? What a bargain!! I paid like 800 for my Fiorenzato F5 Doser. What a shame I own so many grinders. I really can't justify one of these to make one of my two coffees daily... More on weekends....
That's an awesome price. I had been watching these pop up every now and then as a used item and they generally went for around $800, so if this was a new in box, then it's a steal. It'd be interesting to compare the cups against another titan conical.
that's odd, I got my HG one all the way from USA already and I ordered last Monday and it was here on Friday, I just did not hear the doorbell so I had to wait until Monday sent UPS bloody expensive postage but fast and well packed 4 days is all it took so all these postage excuses are bull.
I have a suspicion it's not a postage issue, but we await TFB58's final update. It's *really* dragging on though. Sounds like Admin's iiNet problem all over.

If it's the same seller I bought the Compak A8 Automatica (1 grinder too many) from I'm sure it will all be resolved amicably. My only issue was finding new burrs for my machine... No one seemed to stock them and when I finally found them $200!!!! To make matters worse 2 weeks after I fitted said burrs Galumay made me an offer on the k10 I couldn't refuse. Now no home hobby coffee station needs an 83mm electronic commercial alongside a 71mm Conical doser!!! I suppose we all have our crosses to bear. :stir We're still thinking of you Bookie58!!! :coffee2:
Closely related to this topic.. Did anyone pick up a Fiorenzato 75E electronic from the same Ebay seller recently ? There were 2or 3 that sold and i picked up one ($250 ) wondering who got the others. as there is no information available as to what all the electronics can do...timed dosing , shot counter, and some sensors in the PF holder for some fancy tricks also together with USB port for programming i suspect,..but all is currently a mystery.... ..other than simple On Demand dosing which is fine.

Holy crikey... If it were me I'd be screaming with joy! All the best with your research!
Well im sorting things slowly ... After much hassle i finally cracked the password protection and got the leds working , cooling fan controls, time and date etc reset. Also discovered that the PF fork has a sensor array that can detect if you want a single or double dose ! ??? ..but i havent sorted that yet ! And yes, im very happy with it so far , fast, quiet and no clumping !
