After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

ESE coffee pod suitable baskets to suit Breville/Sunbeam 52/53mm group head.

Dear Coffee lovers,
I'm in the process of converting fellow work colleagues to users of espresso coffee machines as distinct from those ugly/dirty poor capsule,in this attempt I'll need some support from some of you good people.
I've done some careful research on the habits of these users of capsule "coffee" machines and I believe with a little guided democracy I may make some headway.
These capsule machines seem to be marketed as "quick" coffee makers when compared to espresso machines using per-ground or freshly ground coffee beans.
I have sourced a reasonable number of machines (Sunbeam/Breville) 52/53mm group head size not the commercial size,I've also seen filter baskets made specifically for the ESE (easy serve espresso) coffee pods that come in a size (52/53mm)however,for the life of me I cannot locate a source for these ese baskets.
This is where with your collective wisdom,I need assistance.....anyone know where I can get them?
My hope is to lure capsule machine users away with an alternative quick coffee maker using ese pods with their eventual move to pre ground or freshly ground beans.
I have moved some of these machines to people after demonstrating how much better tasting and quick and easy coffee pods really are, those people have freely moved onto coffee bean use as a direct consequence of ese pods.
Please check your contacts and sources and reply so I can move forward, where do I look next?
Helpful advice is always welcome.
Regards
Mick

Have you tried MyPressi replacement parts for suitability  -  http://mypressi.com/collections/spare-parts KK
  • Doubt you will have much luck. We have been roasting and selling ESE pods for more than 4 years and whilst I have not taken the tape measure to a pod, they look like they have been designed for an industry standard 58mm group in terms of size. I could be wrong though. Ask Martin or Melanie from PodPak.
  • mycuppa, Finally located a supplier that is able to source sunbeam 51mm ese pod filter baskets however, the offered cost at $15.00 each IMHO rather excessive for what they are, when compared to single shot baskets (ground coffee) are $10.00 ea. Am I out of touch with prices or maybe due to production demands for these pod designed holders , close to "zilch"amongst coffee consumers around the world. Anyone know of a better buy cost for fifteen units? Cheers Mick
  • If you haven't already asked ? 15 units is a bulk buy - ask for a bulk buy price. KK
  • It may sound dumb, but have you tried using the standard single basket with an ESE pod ? I have seen it done on a different machine ( Ascaso) effectively
  • conikal, Thanks ,yes some machine group handle design seem to allow pods use,not sunbeam.breville or krups.I have all these with their respective baskets and no go...brew flows around and out as dirty water. There must be a full perimeter seal on the coffee pod to be effective. Yes ,I like the idea of a bulk buy...I'll see have people react to that request. Cheers Mick
  • Dear Coffee Lovers, Sadly I have not received any offers of unused pod suitable filter baskets, despite my offer to pay for them,oh well...! I've now contacted Service Sphere and ordered and paid for the fifteen baskets I need, yet to collect however,I'm set for the roll out of domestic machine rollout through my work place,to replace those other machines (capsule). This is my effort to remove the environmentally damaging capsule market for here, anyone who still may have some pod suitable filter baskets are welcome to contact me for purchase/ or postage payment (donation). Cheers Mick
  • Ended up buying a good number from a great place in North Melbourne, happy now and supplying with each espresso machine placed in staff rooms, thanks for those helpful suggestions. Cheers Mick
  • Excellent news Mick At least a solution was available and the workplaces are caffeinated again KK
