A couple of test shots of Fauna ( Dog ) & Flora ( Orchid ) Camera Canon EOS 70D - Lens 55-250mm STM Like the delicate Bokeh KK
BOKEHLISCIOUS KK. Cannot wait to see more photos.at what focal length was the photo of the flower shot at? I got some new toys I the mail today that I cannot wait to try out. I got a 10 stop (nd1024) 82mm filter and some adapter rings for my smaller lenses. A few of us are planning a sunset long exposure and time lapse shoot. I haven't got a GND filter and never really used one. My workout around is that I meter for the sky then land and work out how long I keep the sky blocked with a non reflective black card, or if the exposure isn't that long I bracket the frame and do HDR in post. Sometimes if I'm lazy and shooting jpeg I do HDR in camera or do multiple exposures. Either method gets me a decent result without forking out $200 for a square GND filter and another $150 for a holder.
  • heres a pic i took last night of my new lens indoor to test noise performance of the sensor. BOKEH shot with: 35mm prime f1.8 1/60 ISO 3200 matrix metering at 100% crop its still very amazing at that ISO

55mm and at the distance point of about .5 metre where I could manually focus KK
  • A few more test shots with the new lens Mostly at its maximum 250 mm length and @ 1 mt distance KK
  • Had an HDMI issue with my D750 today so took it back to JB Hifi for a chat.  They agreed that there was an issue and replaced the camera on the spot with a new one.  Kudos JB!!  In other news I had to go to the Apple Store and get the camera on my IPhone 6 plus replac d and an iPad refurb (cracked screen).  The experience there was time-consuming and now the refurb iPad doesn't work two hours later at home. I'm not feeling Cupertino love that's for sure!!!

My camera is WiFi with mobile devises And it can also be controlled to take photos remotely as well KK
  • Interesting pics KK.  Outdoor macro is made more difficult with the elements causing subjects to move.  The shutter speed really needs to increase to catch the momen in a sharp way but this of course lets in less light.  That's why most macro lenses open up to F2.8 but are best shot at F9 for great DOF.  Trying to get a Bee in sharp focus is my next challenge.

Yes mate so are these but the HDMI is good for use as a live-view screen when taking macro pictures.

What else to say in a Nikon thread.....mate you wouldn't have these problems if you swapped out to: Canon cameras and lenses; Blackberry phones and Thinkpad laptops  :stir  :stir  :stir

really don't have a lot of patience for the whole Apple thing - I had an I-Pad issue; instead of walking in to get tech support, I had to make an appt with their 'Genius bar' - a week out. Then when I got there, I ended up having to wait almost half an hour… for them simply to replace the I-Pad, which I could have done if I'd simply walked off the street [except that the precious little folk at Apple don't allow you to do that]!   ::)
  • I'm hearing you mate!

I can do that remotely with WiFi Using any smart phone or tablet Remotely also gives you the freedom of being hidden away from the camera position and can take photos or video of shy animals in the bush KK
  • Yes it's a great feature but not quite what I'm after.  I'm after HDMI clean out.

This camera is my first Canon ( and my first DSLR ) Previously my 35mm film camera brand of choice was a Pentax So I have no rivalry at all - it's just banter on features ect KK

Yes mate but it's not 'clean out'!  That a feature of the 7d, not the 70d. The 70d has some really great features I'll admit.  That battery cover for instance looks very sturdy >:D

I'm going to stir you a little bit Brett because you haven't visited me as promised The stir portion is - Lets go back a few posts You had the camera replaced to fix a HDMI issue  :stir I still luv ya KK
  • Clean HDMI output is what it's all about. Or is it noise performance? Or low light performance? Or is it pixel count? Wait the d7200 shines in these areas. How could it be so for a 1.5x crop sensor? Must be a Sony sensor. That's one of the main differences between this model and the old d7100. That plus an array of refinements in AF. Lol. But it's not full frame. I can only dream. At least it outperforms the full frame d610. [emoji48][emoji108][emoji13]

KK It's not about the photos. Lol. It's about the the size of the peni... I mean camera. It's actually about the 12" behind the camera that makes the difference.
  • It's actually in the eye A good photographer must have a good eye, it was especially true in the 35mm film days where one had one shot The thing I actually miss most when in manual focus is the 45 deg Split Screen of the 35mm Pentax It would be great to bring it back in DSLRs KK

hi KK. You can actually get split prism focus screens for DSLR cameras. drybean has one on his. They are an after market product and great for manual focus. http://www.katzeyeoptics.com/item--Canon-70D-Focusing-Screen--prod_70D.html These ones from Katz Eye Optics are the bees knees!
  • Thanks for that info May come in handy in the future KK
  • I luv you too KK... no time here for frivolity!  Just back from holidays in time for a tidy-up then work.  This is a had-held shot, no VC in Fluro lighting of an impossibly chatoyant Coconut agate with the 60mm macro.  A bit of sharpening post due to moire patterns overwhelming the focus.  065888f46a3a7415182c895486a4f772_zpshxmbkltc.jpg
  • That's a nice bit of rock Just goes to show how beautiful nature is KK
