After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Argosini - any info??

Just having a wander around Sydney today and noticed that Argosini are opening in Crows Nest....

Does anyone know anything about these folks? The guy in there said that they are originally from NZ.

Their fitout is fantastic (still putting the place together), and the Barista who was putting their sparkling new coffee machine through its paces said that their concept was not to open a 'cafe' more a 'roasting and retail' shop selling retail packs, machines, espresso and pastries!!

They also have their full size roaster right at the front of the shop... so its going to be a bit of theatre in there...

Sounds like a novel concept! They said they open up on 13th Dec.

  • BG&D - where abouts in Crowie are they? Speaking of Crows Nest (I was going to start a new thread but couldn't be a....), The Essential Ingredient has opened up locally (kitchen shop - think staff who wear aprons) and they have tamping mats for $40. These mats are circular pieces of rubber, probably about 15-20cm in diameter and black. $40 for a piece of rubber???????? P
  • They are in Atchison St (sorry didnt get the number!) but they are the other side of the road from "Moody Chef" and just a bit further up towards Crows Nest... They have their full size (30kg?) roaster sitting right at the front of the shop, so its going to be a bit of a theatre I think!!! Saw Essential Ingredient had opened, but my credit card started to scream in my wallet, so decided not to go in! You know a shop is going to be expensive when most of the stock is in hallogen lit glass display cabinets!!!!
  • Argosini rocks - I work around the corner from it, and go there pretty much every day. The staff are always friendly and on the ball, and their loyalty card is great! Every 6th coffee or so is free - it's the best deal I've found, PLUS the roast blend is beautiful and slightly malty. Dang...now I want one...
  • I love these guys, the coffee is great.  From our chats they seem to be ex-Cantarella (Vittoria), which is a great background in the good stuff. They always give decent descriptions of the various roasts available on the day, which are also on the whiteboard.  I can't say this as a rule but they often will offer the stuff roasted most recently (often the same day), the same goes for Forsyths. ;D And the address is 9 Atchison St.
  • Hi guys - latest issue is out in newsagents from Monday; FYI partly as a result of this thread we have featured Argosini in Cafescene, our 'new cafes' section of the Autumn issue. Thanks for the member feedback on this place, and it does get noticed. -A
