Ok here is one for discussion. Ive just measured the distance from my seal to the edge of the screen. Its 9 mm. However, the screen is a bit odd in its construction. It has a lip of SS about 2.5 mm wide and the screen itself is concave in shape (deeper in the centre). Its a two part deal, behind the screen is hefty chunk of brass that comes off with the screen which is then separated and cleaned etc.... So my question is, where do you take the measurement from ? The centre ( deepest part of the screen ) or the out lip ? If its the outer lip I'll have to drop the basket level 11 mm down from the top which isn't going to leave much in the basket. There is a good 1.5-2 mm difference from outside to the centre. So a fait imprint of the outer ring is probably fine ? What do you reckon ?

I'm in the no contact between puck and screen school so would do the 5 cent test under the centre screw.

I did that a few weeks ago DB and dropped my dose, a lot. I now have it where I get a slight imprint of the outer ring of the screen. I'm pretty happy with the results but interested in what others think too.

Remind me mate, are you using a naked?  If the shot looks good with a naked and the puck looks good then I think you've cracked it.  Do you want to borrow a VST?  They are completely transparent in regards to all these issues (to the point of being a PITA) as you saw at my place.

I have a naked ( thanks to AM) but rarely use it. Diagnostics only :D. As for the VST, Well,  :-X :-X. But I should try a bigger basket just for fun eh

I can give you a triple basket but its ridged Now if your tamper fits in it it yours KK

I grabbed a second when they went on special so that when I do multiples I can work two portafilters.  Great value while they are on special.  I couldn't live without mine!! Go on DX grab one... You know you want too!

That's one reason why I want one, because I know he!ll keep the measurement of it on file until I get a tamper.
