Bonsoy is back!

Hi guys - as previously reported here, Bonsoy has had some problems, but according to Spiral Food's Director James Wilson, they're now back. According to James:
"The new formula resulted in the removal of kombu, a seaweed extract that contains naturally occurring iodine. We have thoroughly tested the new product and have worked with the producers to ensure it fully satisfies Bonsoy drinkers in terms of taste and texture,

I think that the vitasoy barista may have taken a bit of their market while they were away, they might find it hard to get their sales back.

vitasoy cafe is a good product for the coffee market due to low carbon footprint and it textures beautifully, but it's flavour profile is very mild and understated - showcasing the quality (or lack thereof) if the coffee bonsoy on the other hand has a very robust and distinctive flavour that you either love or hate - but most devotees are fanatical about the product! ACg

just heard the news - apparently there's a 'class action' now being launched [or at least considered] against Bonsoy ... will see if I can dig up any info.

Ok found this in yesterday's Australian: "A CLASS action lawsuit has been launched against the distributors of a soy milk product that had been recalled across Australia because of a cluster of linked health problems. Twenty-five people have signed up for the lawsuit against Spiral Foods Pty, which sold Bonsoy soy milk across Australia between 2003 and 2009. A statement of claim filed in the Victorian Supreme Court today alleges the company was in breach of the Trade Practices Act when it sold Bonsoy with high levels of iodine and is being sued for negligence. Bonsoy was pulled from shelves in December last year, after Food Standards Australia found seaweed added to the milk boosted levels of iodine into extremely high ranges. Testing found drinking one-eighth of a cup of Bonsoy would exceed the daily safe limit of iodine. Ten people fell ill in NSW before the company recalled the product.
