After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.
Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.
I folks. I have recently completed my Adelaide cafe expedition around Adelaide visiting one a week for a year. My final wrap up is now online if you want a look including best places to go to and other bits and bobs. http://adelaidecoffee.wordpress.com/2012/03/18/adelaide-coffee-2012/

wow - that's an amazing and an impressive feat and quite a comprehensive line up you've got there!
Cheers folks. Well, I reckon that coffee chapter in my life has finished and i'm doing some ground work for a new project. Should the ground work turn out good, then i'll push forward with it. If It doesnt then i'll drown my sorrows in coffee. :'(
Visited a morning tea cafe in an industrial area of Adelaide today for a quick snack and coffee and was blown away with the coffee, food and information shared and discussed by the owner. It was called Diamond Coffee Roasting at 29 Conmurra Ave Edwardstown. They are only open 7am - 3.00pm, have a range of domestic and commercial machines, will sell you a range of green beans at matched prices with other Australian suppliers, have a wide range of beans and roasts, also chocolates, run barista and roaster training and have a nice cafe with a large range of food at quite respectable prices. I mentioned that I made my own roaster and it all began, very informative and not possessive of their knowledge. They gave me coffee samples and also their service peoples contacts where I will get my group 1 machine (which I feel is scaling up badly). :thumb: Neill
So far this year we have had good progress on the quality coffee scene in Adelaide. 3 cafes have opened that are churning out some great coffee - all three are opened in the city - Exchange and Please Say Please and bar9 have opened a second place. Oh, and Doof Doof was taken over by barista champ Ben - so expect a good cuppa. For me personally, i've gone off machine coffee somewhat ...sure i still drink them but I now mostly only visit cafes that do filter as that is what i currently love to drink. Thats an update.

Wow. Just a few minutes walk from our SA office. Too bad I didn't read this thread a few weeks back before I went to conduct an audit. Will have to wait now until next year's visit.
Wow, 19 months since the last post. Has everyone gotten bored with coffee in Adelaide? I feel there are some really good coffee shops/bars in Adelaide but no great ones. My list of favs are as follows, and I have by no means been to some others listed so these are the ones I know. Coffee Barun - I've been going there for years, even before Mark moved to his bigger diggs. Always consistent coffee. The food there is also, amazing. Filters here have taken a step up IMO as the new Barista there used to work at Pure Boutique and his filters are my absolute favourite. Gives the Coffee Barun my biggest tick of approval. Add to that, I buy my beans from Mark too. Bar9 Central - Really good coffee and great food. Their Mushroom Ragu is bloody sensational. Trust me. Bar9 Parkside deserves a mention. Not quite as good as Central ATM. I did enjoy filter coffee there but I feel they have fallen off a bit lately. Hoping they pick up again. Ian has been doing lots of different things these days so maybe his influence has been missed. Coffee Branch - I just love stopping by here for a couple of coffees and to say g'day to Josh. Always busy, never sensational but I really like the atmosphere and location. Larry & Ladd - Probably the newest kid on the block in Regent Arcade CBD. Personally, this is my current favourite for a latte. Really tasty. Espresso's are very good too. Fiefy's - I love stopping past to say hi to Fiefy and the ladies there. It's nice to see a top level coffee bar with an all female line up. Consistency is always guaranteed here. They always remember my order and serve black coffees correctly with a glass of water when enjoying there. Paddy's Lantern - Out of the way place. A nice coffee on offer but nothing stellar. A bit weak at times when having a latte. I've often received thin espressos here. Not quite as consistent as some other places. They do soft boiled eggs and "soldiers" though and that just ROCKS!! Dishonourable Mentions Exchange - I've been once and haven't been back. I asked for my standard order (Latte and an espresso) and was served the latte in a mug, not a glass. I'm sorry, but you do not serve a latte in anything other than a glass IMO. Coffee tasted ok from memory but I was annoyed from the beginning because the vessel was wrong. E for Ethel - Same as above. Had heard good things but was served in a flat white cup, not a glass. Haven't been back again. There are plenty of others that I have been too and would put on a list but the ones mentioned (positively) above, I go to regularly. Hmm, that was fun. Now I feel like a coffee.......
