After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

  • Hi guys - obviously this one is a lot 'lower key' but some good names have come through... [Danes is a Sydney-based roaster]. Fyi. the result of their championship:  "Nadine Norman was awarded top barista on the day. She trained through the Danes Gourmet Coffee Institute and her win attests to the importance of proper training and qualifications for all baristas. Sasa Sestic from Owa Coffee House in ACT was the runner up in the competition and he will be representing Australia in the Australasian Grand Barista Championships in Thailand on the 9th July at the Bangkok Exhibition centre." • to be honest, I don't really understand this; I mean you've got the whole National champs thing, feeding into the WBC, so I'm not quite sure why they bother? ???
  • Ok guys - for the record, this was won by Sasa Sestic, a roaster/barista from Owa Coffee House in ACT; congrats Sasa. The press release advises that Sasa won the title competing against baristas from Hong Kong and Thailand, in front of 100 spectators and lovers of coffee; finals took place in Thailand. A
  • Actually Sasa is from 'Ona' coffee rather than 'Owa'. If you're not in Canberra, it's not too surprising that you've not heard of Ona coffee, but they're certainly a growing business! They've kinda ditched the 'house' as of early last year, and are now known as 'Ona Coffee'. J
