After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.
Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.
It's a tough life being a barista in the US [see this from the newswires]:
Police in Eugene [US] are investigating an attempted coffee-shop robbery Wednesday night that ended with an exchange of gunfire and the barista shooting and killing one of the suspects.
Authorities say that around 9 p.m. Wednesday, two men tried to rob the Dutch Bros. Coffee kiosk in the 2100 block of Franklin Blvd. near Walnut Street. One individual forced his way into the shop while the other stood outside, Lt. Doug Mozan said this morning.
An apparent struggle ensued inside the kiosk, Mozan said. The coffee-shop employee shot the robber, who died at the scene. The second suspect fled. Police this morning identified the dead robber as Sirus Combs, 27, of Eugene. He has a past criminal history, court records and police say.
Spokeswoman Melinda McLaughlin said an exchange of gunfire occurred and that more than one weapon was involved. But she declined to say whether the employee was armed.
