Where do you roast?

If your better halves would let you would you roast inside?

I think we must be the envy of all types, I get to roast in the kitchen and he gets to pull car parts apart in the lounge room, plus his workroom is the 'real' lounge room.  I think the only thing he hasn't done inside is weld, although he does solder

We also have electronic parts as far as the eye can see, doesn't matter where you turn you'll see something, anyone seen the Mythbusters wall of boxes, we have a smaller version in the entry way, opposite the 'real' lounge room.

Anyway back to roasting

Nothing like a house filled with the smell of freshly roasted coffee  ;D

yep love roasting in the kitchen - gotta get my cooling sorted though as my industrial fan filled half the house with chaf after the last roast - so gotta work that one a bit better

I roast on the patio.  Wife hates the smell of roasting coffee so outside I go.  Not that I would really want to roast indoors anyway because I built myself a nice little trolley from an old BBQ frame to store my KKTO on.  It also doubles as a Pizza prep table for parties.  Might not look the best, but it does the job.  It's not that cold up on the Sunshine Coast anyway so it doesn't impact on my roasts. I did just read a thread elsewhere about a fire in a Behmor 1600 indoors.  Lucky no one was hurt but if you are going to roast indoors you really have to have an action plan if a fire takes place.  If you have a fire don't open the door if you get a fire!!!

At least there is no chaff problems associated with the KKTO As you all know my wife is the boss of the house and what she says goes I roast outside on the patio I also have an old bar fridge (not working) that I keep green beans in for storage and its also the perfect height to place the roaster on the top of the fridge and roast As the roaster can be moved easily I sometimes roast on the little square prep side table of the BBQ Works for me & keeps the wife happy KK

I used to roast on the back veranda with my 'coretto' using a pedestal fan to blow the chaff on the back lawn. Now I've got a Behmor and I roast in the garage, only because there's a power point near by. I did try the first roast inside, never again  ::).

Just shifted house and haven't settled on the final location yet. I used to roast under my northerly facing verandah with a beer in hand in the afternoon sun which worked well. The new shack is sans back verandah (does have a North facing sunroom with windows) so some investigation of options is needed. Spent 2 days making smoke on a hottop at cafebiz last weekend which was fun all my clothes smelled of roaster smoke

Out the back of the garage. We have a drive through so it is essentially a courtyard which is great as all the chaff blows onto the paving which eventually finds its way into the garden on the edge of the courtyard. Even with the Behmors I open the doors when I hit cool and blast a pedestal fan at them to speed up the cooling, so chaff goes everywhere. Indoors is not an option  ;D. Still close to the beer fridge, the idiot box if there is motorsport on, and my lovely wife more often than not joins me  .

Garage roasting for me It works out fine as you don't have no worries about the weather or if you want to roast day or night, I mad up a exhaust fan over the Turbo this takes care of the smoke and smell. Cheers Gra..

Gra I've always loved your set up I'm going to put my roaster on a wheelie bench so I can put it in a corner out of the way, beans underneath and a draw in between, also means that I can roast wherever I want to. I'm the one making the mess so I don't have to worry about anyone telling me off, it's only chaff after all  ;D

I would roast in the garage if I had the space However its full of machines that are used in my business Even the cars are now outside on the driveway Need to sell some equipment and dump some junk Now this will make Mrs Kosmo very happy KK

I roast in the garage.  Got a flexible hose that routes the smoke out the window.  Roaster is on a SS kitchen trolley. I just pull one of the cars forward to make space to roast.

I roast in the Garage next to the door. I have a pedestal fan that just directs all the chaff out the door onto the lawn. Good for the grass

That was my first roasting platform works great you can roast any where you like.. Cheers Gra..
