After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Tables and seating types at Cafes or Coffee shops.

Looking at some different options for Coffee/Cafe setups and interested what others think about seating options.

Communal tables - do you like them or feel comfortable sitting next to complete strangers, do you chat to the stranger?

More standard cafe mix of small - medium tables.

Window or wall narrow counter and stools

Comfy couch and a coffee table to hang out and stay for a bit?

Stand up at the counter or perch on a stool and watch the Barista at work and chat if they have time?

  • I'm not a fan of the communal table thing as a lot of people just block the seat next to them with a bag or similar... My vote would be towards a combination. Standard cafe mix of small tables towards front, stools at the counter and a couch or two towards the rear. This is all space and layout dependant of course.
  • I love the couch appeal and I would pick to sit there, coffee to me is comfort and to sit around for a little bit and have either a quiet chat, read or even just to sit there sipping would appeal to me :)
  • I like the option of a table or a couch. Nothing irritates me more than having way too many tables in a small spot, and feeling like you can't slide your chair out without apologising to someone. There are a few cafes around here with a "bar" and they make the coffee behind it. It isn't too bad when done well, but some baristas can't handle it having people watching them.
  • Hello! I am having the same issue as Bean Flying had. Thankfully, I got some great suggestions here. I hope more discussions will further help me. Thanks!
