Artisan roasting software?

So even though I'm only at popper stage, I have my better half already onboard with the idea of building a corretto. We have a donor breadmaker, so only a heat gun is really necessary.

That said, since I can't just go out and buy every toy that catches my fancy, no matter how hard I try.  ::)

So I'm planning a little, and a data logger seems like the obvious next step.

Of course there's the CS system, but I'm given to understand that you're limited to the one datalogger - and of course it only runs on Windows.

So looking about, I discovered the Artisan Visual Scope for Coffee Roasters. It seems pretty comprehensive and fits with one of my main preferences - that it runs on OSX.

Trouble is, most of those data loggers on its support page either aren't available here or they're hugely expensive or they're serial-port only.

Has anyone tried this platform? And have I missed something in the search for a compatible data logger?

Have a look at RoastLogger on TMC or Google. It also runs on Mac and it supports the Victor 86b and several others including Arduino  ::)

Pretty sure you can run artisan with arduino/tc4

Looking like the Victor's the cheapest in AU, might even be able to get it cheaply from OS. UNM I've got to say that the Arudino/TC4 option is intriguing, but carries a high likelyhood of total stuff up. My wife can solder tho... mmmmmm

No need to worry about stuff ups. I hadn't done any real electronics soldering for over 30 years. Really easy to put together and I'd be happy to put one together for you if you wanted. I don't know the victor well, but it seems to do the job of monitoring and logging temp. The main difference is the arduino is more  general purpose and allows more tinkering. The victor would just work straight out of the box and is also a multimeter. So if you want to play, go arduino. If you just want a product to monitor temp in a standard package, and/or need a multimeter, go the victor

Thanks UNM! I'll have to look into what's required. Like coffee itself, it seems like this is a rabbit hole of some depth.... I really like the idea of having flexibility and being able to make custom gear. Wond where my old Dick Smith soldering iron got to?
