After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

  • Another tweak to add to the list: Brass OPVs We put it together last night to test it, well what do you know, fairly simple replacement, an extra part is needed, hopefully I'll get that today and off we go on a new adventure :)

You guys are legends!  I imagine that this will be a mod very high on most enthusiast's list!
  • Well guys the conversion has happened is tested and here is my write up http://nic.steve-tek.com/?page_id=364 any comments or something I've forgotten to say just let me know :)
  • Good job Nic! I commented on your site re adjusting new one and am wanting to see a vid of the gauge now post swap over. You changed it due to the fluttering right? Has that been solved? It was really the only thing I felt was left out of detailed write up...
  • Muscles it definitely has fixed it, it used to flutter on the spot upwards. A video, well ok, my tamping is crap though and it brings a whole different meaning to the word flutter, different to what was happening before though, it will start at 9 bar and swing to 8.5 bar for about 10 seconds as it goes through the coffee and then stays there for the rest of the pour. When I do a solid tamp the gauge stays in the one spot the whole time even though it's over, I might have to show that instead, so people don't think I was trying to get rid of something that is user error LOL AM I did talk to OH about it but he didn't think it was necessary and I guess I like to try and work on my grind and tamping myself rather than having the OPV set to a point where it maxs out so you don't really have to care whether you've tamped too hard. What was the point in changing it at all, well so if I did get chokers they might be salvageable :) In thinking about it, maybe I should put it to a spot where it can max out every time, I'd be consistent then :) Oh that last part, it sits so close to the back panel that I wouldn't have to worry about hitting anything.
  • Thanks AM!  Will give all of that a crack!
