Coffee electronic coupons?

seems like it could revolutionise the whole 'coupon' thing, although no doubt some purists would argue that it should only be the quality of the coffeee that keeps people coming back... ??

Of course it will work. People will download it just to have it on their phone even more so when it becomes available on Android It's a good idea and as long as it is secure and tamper-proof, will be good for vendor, customer and the environment. What happens if you have to reset the phone? Will your phone be recognised by the vendor's system and be updated - or will it be the same as losing the physical loyalty card?

The specials board already IS available for android, nokia and soon windoze. These schemes, or similar have been around for a little while now. There will no doubt be many more before or two main players emerge. This sort of thing, coupled with online ordering such as 365cups will definitely have an impact, but we are in the very early days of how always available internet and gps technology is going to shape our lives. We live in exciting times!

Fair enough. I only checked the Wealie link. I am yet to see them in use at the cafes I visit and I'm not  an avid smartphone user even though I have two.

Indeed. I am of the same vintage as AM and I marvel at the things that have occurred in my lifetime. I remember thefirst electronic calculator I owned - it had a 3 digit display. I used log tables and slide rules before then., I saw my first computer in the 1960s which filled a room but there is a faster and more powerful processor in my digital watch. I saw the introduction of the Apple II, the IBM, the Mac but can now buy a computer several orders of magnitude more powerful for a fraction of the price.The futuristic concept of never having to leave home and everything ordered by computer and delivered to your door is realised. And now your computer (via your smartphone) can go with you and used alsmost anywhere.

That's a no-brainer mate: Angry Birds! I am still not able to bleep my visa on the machine that goes bing.  It is a Platinum one (not because of my earnings- teacher but because of my owings ) so it should be awesome and all bleepy.  What am I missing?

personally I prefer the ecoffeecard its fun and well designed with great backend functionality for the cafe owner and its won a bunch of design awards deservedly so IMHO!
