Hi all, I'm an experienced barista but quite new to the whole forum genre. So I'm not a 'noob' in the true sense of the word, but have joined in the hope of gaining some great insight from some more knowledgeable 'old fellas' on anything and everything coffee. It is definitely daunting for some of us to come forward and share thoughts, so positive encouragement should absolutely be the order of the day afterall, aren't we all fighting the same cause when it comes down to it? To save the world from bad coffee, and make a difference one little cup at a time? So the more 'noobs' who ask 'stoopid' questions the better I say!! I love the wiki idea! And providing links for further reading can be really positive, as long as it's not done to 'fob off' the little fish. cheers

Baahaaa sorry guys...trying to think of a witty comeback but I'm a tired mum and I got nothin.... :-| but I actually shudder to think about the days I was 'learning' to make coffee in an awful cafe as a 16 yo work experience student, and we did use a plastic tamper! Hey thinking about those bad habits could open a terrible can of worms.....but seriously, I hope I can be a valuable contributor  so what was the question again?....  ;D

Plastic tampers work fine Sis, it's the worm using em makes the difference.

Keep it up KK! Like the Wiki idea but would also encourage noobs to be patient and read up, there's some great tips in many threads across all the forums Personally, I like noob questions, after all they wouldn't be asking if they weren't passionate - just like the rest of us! Seeya
