After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Espresso Machines

I am sick to death of some of the shinny pieces of rubbish
that I see on benches all over the country. Just because it looks pretty does not mean it is functional.

I always ask people what their favourite machine is and why?

Alot of equipment in Australia tends to be not used to it's potential, regardless of the brand.

Personally my favourite machine only exists in my head.

My question to you is:
1: what is your favourite machine?
2: what would you add or change and why?
3: what do you see the future of espresso holds?

  • While I am thinking about my ideal machine... and nothing compares to my beloved Mr San Marino, the machine should have a feature that actives a drop chute if a 'barista' is 'trying' to make 'espresso' they end up being sucked into a pool of their own putrid coffee and surrounded by sharks with laser beams on their heads!!!!! ok.. maybe im going a bit far... Ill get back to you with my ideal machine after im finished thinking. The Chicksta
  • i agree about the san marino, but i used to have a little faema 'due' and it was a real work horse. I think espresso machines are like cars... evyone has a good and bad story about the one YOU like/have! if i had the money id get one of the new la cimbali machines... very high tech... and they just keep going... but a pain to fix (apparently??!!)
  • you need to look at the Veneziano www.ecm-espresso.it E.F

  • MAny machines that i have used had their good and bad points ,one thing that i hate is when they put the hot water switch on top of the hot water outlet ,dont these italians know that the steam is hot as well mama mia.one good thing is when they put the manual switch on machines its great to make espresso this way.and for a much softer handel, how about it lets get creative imagine ,no more sore hands, how about a water temperature gauge on the top of the coresponding group head,,,,,,,,, ;D ;D ;D ;D
  • Another one from the archive - still think this one's got a way to go... Admin
