After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.
Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Basket diameter and the effect on flavour profiles.
Totally out there and subjective for most due to the "standard" 58mm baskets predominating the market but anyone who has played with different basket diameters have any thoughts on the good or bad of them?
The reason behind this is I have 'a few' different diameter lever machines ;D and have just decommissioned my 55mm basketed Izzo lever and gone to using the 58mm Fioranzato during the quieter season. While the spring and cam profiles are almost certainly different with the same beans and grinder only separated by a day there is a very noticeable taste profile change.
Shot temperature is to taste in the past optimum for a broad range of beans or blends on both machines and have been set to suit. The only other change made was to a finer grind required for the 58mm VST baskets.
58mm to me is Brighter but not as smooth and or rounded as the 55mm baskets.
Thoughts anyone? I really need to do some back to back testing but more power and a second matching grinder is really needed.
