After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

See me nude !

Big thanks to AM for turning my spare PF into a naked and giving me a timber handle to boot. Most unexpected pleasant surprise  :thumb: :thumb:

Anyway, here a 4 vids using said naked. The beans are all pretty freah at under around 3.5 days post roast. The blend is a bit of everything. Yirga, monte alegre, kuda mas and MM. Huge amounts of funky looking crema I assume from the MM. Have a look and see what you reckon.

Oh, sorry for the horrendous machine noise - you might want to turn the volume down a bit  :D

  • Cool stuff DX!!  Look at all that Crema!  I like #4 best but I wonder about your dose.  It seemed to start slowly and finish quickly (geeze, now where have I heard that phrase ).  Can you back off the grind a smidge and up the dose?  Is there room??  Of course it's easy to sit here and ponder such nonsense (nonsense because there is as yet no taste app or the iPad) having given up bending my own new toy, and resorted to consuming a bucket of wine. Very clean job on the naked!!!  Have a feeling there's a La Pav that will go a similar way tomorrow.
  • I must admit I wasnt that anal with the timing of things, more like trying to aim the camera and dodge the steam.I'll watch them again and review against the comments. Brett, had the dosing discussion briefly with AM today. KK has always said 8 mm min below the lip for the BZ99 but when I did the 5 cent test 8 mm was a overdose. I dropped the dose and now have to grind a bit finer but I like how the PF locks in with no effort at all now. As always, a bit of dicking around with overly fresh beans and the grind. If only I could get a stash going that lasts more than 5 days  :D
  • Number 4 was the finest grind of the lot. All of the fresh-ish bean shots tend to blonde early for me. looks like ample clearance too AM. Top work  :thumb:
  • I've hit the sweet spot on my 99 with a very fine grind and light tamping. Getting luscious thick double ristrettos, but for some reason the naked from the 09 doesn't lock in quite as well.

Yep, that stands to reason... Especially with the lively MM.
  • Hmmmm, I noticed that too AM. What's the go Kelsey ? "Hit the sweet spot on MY 99". I sense his allegiance is changing
  • There's a couple of problems with that: - The 99 will be going back tomorrow or Tuesday, depending on my ability to get a lift over to Bezzera (I'll be care-less in Brisbane for two days) - I love working with an HX, but it's too wide for our limited bench space - my wife misses the styling of the 09 Solution: I need a BZ10 or BZ07!
  • You know the answer Kelsey. Just do it and deal with the fall out as it happens  Whats the difference between the two - just styling ?
  • Pretty much - the BZ10 has the steam and water on either side with the group in the middle. The BZ07 has the steam and water to the left and the group on the right. The 10 also has steam pressure on a double gauge and the config of buttons is different. There's a few different models of 07 also. One has several additional buttons for volumetric brewing and another has a PID.

Always better to beg forgiveness than ask permission hey DX???
  • You betchya. Although I do neither. I just do whatever I want. Other half is tops like that. Just rolls the eyes and says whatever. I dont think Ive made a purchase that doesn't benefit both of us though - except that welder and that pipe bender and that .....
