Home machine with commercial group

Is there a machine availble which is small enough to use as a home machine and doesn't require plumbing in, but which uses a commercial group, or at least something which doesn't need a "crema creating device"?

Matthew, There are a number of machines that match your criteria - probably starting at around $1,200 and up. The cheapest new machine available is the Nuova Simonelli Oscar: Close enough to a commercial group, plastic housing, no hot water spout. From there you have a jump of around $800+ to machines with the E-61 commercial group, steel housing and hot water. Some of the brands/models in there are Diadema, Giotto, LaScala Butterfly, Isomac. Below these machines are such things as the Silvia and Gaggia's. No plumbing, decent machines, but they don't possess the commercial group. Regards, Gary

Matthew, you really need to give us a budget. Briefly, in terms of domestic machines: Nemox "Junior Espresso" is a good little machine at around $550.00. Nemox "Caffe Fenice" is a good little machine at around $625.00. Rancilio Miss Silvia is a good little machine at around $749.00. None of the above have or need "crema enhancing devices" for the espresso, and they have good steam. There are no domestic machines that have a "commercial group", although the Miss Silvia has a commercial sized "group ring" (this is nothing more than the area into which the group handle is fitted/slotted), that allows  the use of a commercial sized group handle (aka filter holder) & filters to suit. In terms of **capacity** to brew espresso and to froth milk (this is important for entertaining when there are more than 2 people present), the Miss Silvia is very good value for money given it's bigger capacity in comparision to any other domestic

Hi all! Just a quick testemonial to help those finding themselves in a similar situation....I acutally bought a machine and grinder from FC recently (Diadema Junior and Macap M5) which has proven to be the most suitable combination to suit my personal needs. FC is a very friendly and knowledgeable resource who can assist your decision making process by offering a solution based around your specific needs - budget, capacity etc. No, I don't work for Cosmorex  :o......I live in 'Multicultural Melbourne' and still managed to purchase my machine from a retailler in the ACT of all places!  There is something to be said in that statement alone. I recently purchased a Sunbeam EM6900 which has a commerical group and hot water spout. Very happy.
