After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Krups filter baskets

edited January 1970 in Espresso Machines
Hi,
can anyone tell me where, in Melbourne, I can buy some Krups filter baskets? I'd like to upgrade my low end Sunbeam, but am unsure where I can buy the requisite replacements here - I'm in East Keilor

cheers
Gary

  • google is your friend.
  • you might also check with the guys at Coffee Parts (coffeeparts.com) - however, they mainly deal with commercial equipment, so not sure if they would have 'appliance' type parts. Lars
  • "google is your friend." actually I spent ages using google (I've never asked a question on any forum without first searching myself!) and found only one possibility, unfortunately they haven't returned the phone call, and their email bounces........was hoping someone would have some knowledge.......... cheers gary
  • re: 'google is your friend', try 'krups service centre' or 'sunbeam service centre'. failing that, go to the krups website or the sunbeam website, and search those sites for your nearest service centre. Krups and sunbeam tend to use the same service centres, who also sell spare parts, filter baskets included.
  • G'day Gary, give this mob a try www.allappliances.com.au They're in Heidelberg but I don't know how close that is to you ??? Hope this helps.
  • thanks Lovey, already trid them, left details with them and they promised to get back to me - been waiting for several days - looks like I'll have to try somewhere else..... As a temporary measure I've now drilled some holes in the filter basket as others have done, so I'll have to invest in a proper grinder to see if I can get better than 15 second double shots! cheers gary
  • I don't know melbourne - but here's the list of service centres for sunbeam in Vic. Like I said, sunbeam service centres seem to also service krups machines. http://www.sunbeam.com.au/service/decision_warranty.cfm?home_id=2 The Krups website used to have a list of service centres, but it doesn't seem to be there anymore. From memory (when I was searching way back when), the list was identical to the list on the sunbeam website. Your best bet is to find a service centre, wander in, find a standard looking basket with no extra bits/attachments, and buy it. It will fit, and it will work. If you really want, take your portafilter in with basket removed, and just try baskets to find the one that fits.
