After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

krups help

edited January 1970 in Espresso Machines
if you have the "krups opinions please" thread, then you'll know my problem. But I wanted to start a new thread cause i just want some help.
The machine went in 4 weeks ago for the third time in a year. The repairer phoned yesterday to say there is nothing wrong with it, we have come to the conclusion it's the milk you are using. Your bill is $120.00. Short of sticking a cow to the frother we have tried every milk from skim to full cream and everything in between. It makes me mad that there is only one authorised repairer in Perth. If we take it elsewhere our extended warranty becomes invalid. I'm not sure if photo's can be posted in this forum but if anyone has the Krups Orchestro, can they take a picture of the cappo their machine makes and post it so i can compare to what our machine does.
Needless to say we contacted krups again and the lovely lady there (who i have been corresponding with for over 7 months) will try and see what she can do now.
I just don't see why the repairer won't say we have a lemon and then the insurance will replace it. So the machine can sit at the repairer's while we continue to go out and by cappo's.
Any help appreciated. Thanks

  • G'day Sheepy, I'm not trying to cast aspersions on your cleanliness, but how often do you clean the milk frother/wand. I've had a look at the other thread you mentioned and I remember that someone mentioned that they cleaned it once a week by soaking the frother nozzle (I can't remember if that was you or not :-[). Once a week definitely isn't regular enough for a steaming wand or milk frother cleaning. It should be cleaned thoroughly after every use. (I apologise if it wasn't your machine I'm referring to). With the service tech telling you that it's the type of milk you're using that's causing the fault, ask him/her to give you a recommendation for the 'correct' type of milk to use so as to avoid a repeat breakdown. I suspect that that he/she won't be able to do this though ;). The only thing you can really do is to keep sending it to get repaired when it breaks down. Ensure that you keep every bit of corro and every bill. You'll need if this goes any further, ie to court or to a current affair  ;D. All the best with it.
  • hi. We soak the nozzle once a week. We clean and descale the machine when it says to do it. But when we had the new nozzle put on it still never frothed. I'd love a good cappo right now but the machine can sit at the repairers a bit longer  ;D
  • I should just add to my post about cleaning, that everytime we made a coffee I would run water through the frother to clean out excess milk and the actual nozzle would get a soaking once week. I really wish we went for the delonghi
