After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Oops, my bad!

Silvia is the espresso machine and Rocky is the grinder!   :-[

I have the Sunbeam EM6910 espresso machine from Sunbeam and a Rancilio Rocky as my grinder.

To me, this combination suits me better than a Silvia with a Rocky, simply because I can make multiple coffees very quickly when I have guests at home.

    G'day all, I'm new to the forum and have spent the last few days reading through it.  It appears that there are a number of threads dealing with the same/similar issues that being which machine to buy and/or recommendations. Would it be possible to merge all these threads and have them as a sticky? That way it would make it quicker and easier for all us newbies. I currently have a cheap Breville machine that I am thinking of upgrading. From reading the reviews/opinions I have narrowed it down to either the Rancilio Silva or Saeco Via Venezia.  I also need to invest in a grinder. I drink 1 or 2 lattes a day and I am prepared to pay up to $1500 (for the machine & grinder) as that equates (approximately) my annual spend on take away coffees. I also propose to do the course at the coffee institute in Brookvale. Can anyone recommend where I should go to purchase my machine or have any other comments or advice they wish to impart?     Cygnatius, We bought our ECM from Di Bartoli in Bondi Junction, they Rancilio an others machines, if you are on Sydney I highly recommended to you.  They are great people to deal with. Is worth to give them a visit if you are in Sydney or check their website.

    My advise would be to go and see a local reputable dealer. If you were willing to go up to 2000 for example I could set you up with a great prosumer machine and grinder inc. lessons.
