Nota by Orchestrale - A symphonic masterpiece or just another marketing pun?

edited January 1970 in Espresso Machines
Hey Guys,

I am retiring my 2 group La Cimbali M28 and in order to move from the laundry to the kitchen, I need to find a great machine.

At first I was set on the Wega Mini classic, but then I was alerted to the Breville BES920 with a twin boiler. That really appealed to me until I saw it up close. I just think the design and parts used leave a lot to be desired. I mean, absolutely, at that price point it's an awesome buy could I really hold my head high and call myself a coffee snob if I had one of those? Maybe, but whilst I don't have an endless budget to buy a Slayer or Speedster, I prob can afford something a bit nicer.

So, I'm down to 3 to choose between:
    [li]Rocket R58[/li] [li]Expobar Minore[/li]
and.... what this whole topic is about....
The Nota by Orchestrale
[/list]

I see a few others on here have the other machines, but finding out about the Nota seems very difficult and limited. I've never heard of it before today but instantly fell in love.

From the outside, in my opinion, the Nota wins on design. The white/black toughened glass sides and the beautifully designed back means this machine will become a centerpiece to the house (we live in open plan). If I have to move from the dungeon (laundry) then this will certainly help.

The internal parts are all solid and quality and even though it isn't a twin boiler I think I can overlook that for the design. No PID is a bit rough at that price point but even so, I've been using a La Cimbali for the last 7 years and back when I was at my height as a barista, we did it all manually anyway.

So, what do you think/know/suggest

I'd like to hear people's thoughts on all three, but if anyone on here knows about the Nota or has used one please let me know.

Cheers,

Ryadan

  • The best finished prosumer machines are the Bezzera range I have owned 3 Bezzera machines and have loved them all I haven't heard of the Nota but it does look nice [attachimg=1] [embed=425,349] KK
  • I like it!  My only gripe at that price-point is the lack of easy temp adjustment at the group.  I don't adjust mine often but when I do it makes a significant improvement in the the taste.  I reckon most importantly it looks an easy machine to fall in love with!!  Pictures, pictures , pictures !!!!!

Yep Def agree Brett. However, I have been using machines since before we even had these features ( I remember a time when only LM's had dual boilers and THAT was a luxury.) I feel confident I could make a great coffee on any of the prosumer machines and so as long as they are well made, I would love something a bit unique than just the standard square box of chrome. This is what is driving me towards the Nota. but the lack of "real" people stories does slightly scare me.

Sure mate, but at a basic level these machines share many of the same components.  I would worry if it wasn't Italian as the parts may be tricky to get but this is not the case!
