After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Krups 988

edited January 1970 in Espresso Machines
Hi coffee friends, we were given a KRUPS 988 espresso machine in working order. Are encountering some problems though. Does anybody have that machine and time for a chat on the phone about maintanance and operation ? If yes, let me know your name and phone no and I will call you.

Does anybody have a instruction booklet we could photocopy ?

  • Hi Matin, have you tried contacting the manufacturer / distributor direct? they're usually pretty helpful.  having said that I would have to say that even if your machine were in full working order i think you would probably struggle to make a good coffee from it, as the krups machines to the best of my knowledge simply do not have enough 'omph' in them to get a decent extraction i reckon that you would be better off off loading this machine and investing in something a little more high-tech, including a decent grinder or failing that, even an entry level grinder such as the sunbeam em480 will enable you to grind fresh beans to order, which you could then run through a stovetop, drip filter, or use in a plunger, and any of these options would most likely generate a better result than using stale pre-ground beans through a krups machine prob not the news that you wanted to hear, but if you're going to invest time and presumably money in home coffee, i recommend you start a little higher up the food chain cheers, pat
