After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

who invented the 'flat white': NZ or Australia?

Comments

  • I believe Nescafe or International Roast invented the FW. [emoji13]
  • ooh dear....!!! Actually this has nothing to do with "who invented the flat white"...it is rather....who first coined the phrase.... Because the flat white is a *caffe latte* meaning milk coffee ie no froth/textured milk, and its been around forever especially in every Italian family using a bialetti type stove top espresso machine and milk heated on the stove. Canon VS Nikon anyone  :stir
  • Nikon, Nikon NikOH.... I see what you did there. Excellent response however I read the the term was coined across the ditch.  Can't trust my source however as it was on the interwebs.
  • I'm mean it goes without saying - it obviously it came from NZ ! Actually my understanding is that it's derived from from the adding milk to instant coffee tradition - which is supported by the fact that customers "of a certain age" are most insistent when it comes to there being no froth in their flat white and more than a few have told me that this stems from their drinking instant at home and not enjoying the creamy texture of a latte... For what it's worth I'm in nz art the monent and I'm giving the local coffee a good workout! P
