After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Sunbeam EM7000 Steam Knob - Replacing

edited November 2015 in Espresso Machines
In case someone searches for this issue.... started a new thread.

Due to the stiffness that develops on the Steam Wand Knob over time, the rubber TAB can start to split making it difficult to apply the required pressure to turn off the control.
Good news is that the replacement part is already there on the other side of the machine (assuming that you don't use the Hot Water Control).

Simply remove the Steam Wand Knob by placing a flat blade tool between the machine and the Knob TAB... and gently lever it off.  Start at the TAB and then you will be able to do the same around the remainder of the knob.  Do the same on the Hot Water Knob.... and swap them over.

The "broken" knob shouldn't be an issue on the Hot Water wand as this is less likely to be as stiff (and in my case... never gets used)
