Coffee Co-op. Surplus beans.

A small group of my friends got together and formed a Coffee Co-op. Our purpose is to source high quality green coffee beans that WE like, but cannot buy from normal sources.
I buy the specialty coffee (micro-lots) on behalf of this Co-op.

To cut a long story short, we have surplus beans, as one of the group has moved overseas and cannot take his allotment.

If you are interested in high quality beans (85+ scores), please PM for further details.
I do not want to list specifics here, but the beans are 2016 crops, small batches (micro-lots) and not available from any site sponsor, or green bean retailer. Happy to ship in 1kg lots. Full details via PM.

This is not a business, nor will it ever be. It is a way of sourcing beans that suit our needs and tastes, via a Co-op.

I forgot to add. I can ship via post, or pickup in Brisbane via mutual agreement. I send a lot of parcels to family via Officeworks mailman. ($15 for 5kg, $20 for 10kg). I am overseas from 27th June and return at the end of July 2016. Any requests for beans can be dealt with this week, or upon my return. Regards, Lw.

Just an update. I am back from overseas. Thank you to everyone who took up my offer. I still have some beans on hand if anyone is interested. I travel a fair bit, and am able to take beans with me (air freight) due to generous baggage allowances. I am in Perth in the first week of October, and will be staying in the CBD. If anyone in WA wants some beans, happy to oblige. Will be in Melbourne and Adelaide later in October, and Newcastle a bit later. Cheers.

Just an update. A special thanks to all who have participated. Your patronage has enabled quite a few hobby roasters to gain access to some excellent beans. The co-op is still going strong and new members are welcome. I still have some lovely coffees (Ethiopia, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Indonesia, Brazil) with some more on the way. There is a limited amount of Panama Coffees coming, and I can still add to my order if people are interested. I also have a Panama Geisha coming. Green bean co-op. Update. In general the beans I source are high grade specialty microlots, with very small volumes coming into the country. They tend to be hard to get and interesting at the same time. I have been asked if I can source some similar beans with a lower price point as a couple of home roasters are increasing their roasting volumes and seek some value base beans to blend with the microlots. There will be a very small amount to spare, but I can increase our order if others are interested. A good PNG is one of them. If you have any similar requests, please email or PM me and let me know your price point and quality expectation. No question is silly, and I am happy to assist with your needs.

UPDATE. Hi Everyone, I just wanted to provide an update on the Co-op. It is still going strong, and quite a few people have sourced beans from me. I have some exciting new developments coming up in the next 2-3 months and will provide more details once everything is fully organised. I have had many discussions on how to involve more people and also to allow them to provide input. This poses challenges as everyone has different tastes and expectations. More to come.... Price is always an issue, and usually the better the bean, the higher the price. There are exceptions, and I have sampled and tested some wonderful offerings. We purchased a small quantity to evaluate the beans and the suppliers, and were very happy with the results. No spare green beans from this purchase, as I insisted on payment upfront. The beans were excellent value, so we will have more in the future. Cupping scores are highly contentious, and everyone has their opinion. I find that if your preference is pour-over etc, then high scoring coffees are great, and some people are happy to pay the premium. When it comes to espresso, there are many factors to consider, with the experience of the roaster being paramount. In the future our offerings will be varied to include beans at the low end of the price spectrum. More later. In the meantime, she who must always be obeyed has decreed that my pile of beans is too large and taking up too much room. We have recemtly moved into smaller, but newer premises, with storage space at a premium. I am therefore happy to move some of my beans at a reduced price. If anyone is interested, please contact me  and I am willing to work something out, depending on the volume. It comes out of my pocket, as there is no profit in this co-op, but domestic harmony is paramount. The alternative was to reduce the wine collection. So, if you want some Central and South American beans, get in touch. I may be compelled to let some African and Indo beans go as well......
