After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

OLYMPIA

edited January 1970 in Off-topic
What a gutsy swim by Petrea Thomas.
A well deserved win, especially after 3 shoulder reconstructions. I have only had one.
To get back to that level of competition is truly amazing.
Congratulations are well in order.

  • does this mean you get better with each succesive reconstruction Or that she ought to change doktors as they coudn't get it right until the third attempt? G.
  • I hope Delta's feeling better!! :-/
  • I just hope all our brave athletes take care on those motor-cycles - apparently the police there don't report accidents too well.
  • How about John Howard lying on the boat people saga before the last election - that's gotta be a lie of Olympic proportions! Lars
  • The althletes shouldn't be on the motorcycles in the first place and if they are they should get the sack...the aust govt (ie the people of Oz) do not spend millions of dollars of tax payers money on them at various AIS's to have these "public servants" (yes, in essence then these athletes are our public servants) placing our investment in them in danger... G. and I hope they all choke on their double baked biscotti's.
  • You could look at the bike bang up in another light. A good chance to get a few more (legit) needles. Last time I was banged up the nurse enjoyed making a pin cushion out of my thighs and but. These extra needles would throw any drug test into a spin. For the aussies some more great medals in the shooting and cycling. Both out of the blue. Gr8 to see. Seems to be a few spare seats over there. Maybe Admin can organise a coffee tour of Athens. I hear that if you buy a ticket to any event, they throw in a couple of first class air fares. JD
  • Picking up on Lars' suggestion, let's see who can pick the biggest lie (ie of 'Olympian' proportions) of the election.
  • Clocks and lies .... A man died and went to heaven.  As he stood in front of St Peter at the Pearly Gates, he saw a huge wall of clocks behind him. He asked "What are all those clocks?" St Peter answered: "Those are Lie-Clocks.  Everyone on Earth has a Lie-Clock.  Every time you lie the hands on your clock will move." Said the man: "Whose clock is that?" "That's Mother Teresa's.  The hands have never moved, indicating that she never told a lie." "Incredible" said the man.  "And whose clock is that one?" St Peter responded: "That's Abraham Lincoln's clock.  The hands have moved twice, telling us that Abe told only two lies in his entire life." "Where's John Howard's?" asked the man. "John Howard's clock is in Jesus' office.  He's using it as a ceiling fan."
  • This one's a line, not a 'lie', but it's right up there on the hypocrisy scale - John Howard on the news yesterday, responding to something Mark Latham had said...'he's just playing politics in the middle of an election campaign'...Gosh Mr Howard, what's the world coming to! -L :)
