christmas wish list?

edited January 1970 in Off-topic
Hi all, I know its a bit late... but did anyone out there get what they were wanting for Christmas, in terms of new coffee equipment?

Not sure if this counts or not, but I recently re-acquisitioned my Bezzera espresso machine from a mate who's had it for about a year, and had it fully serviced!

Now I making the coffee of my life at home!

What about others out there?

  • I got a lens for my camera! oh ... that's not coffee-related. umm... I got given a kilo of some stale italian-stlye roasted stuff, and a pack of Columbian Supremo from Gloria Jeans ... but I wasn't really wishing for that. They were one of those "oh, you shouldn't have!" gifts...
  • I bought myself a couple of kg of single origin Papua New Guinea 'Okapa' beans, which went down a treat over christmas and new years! P

Of course it is coffee related - you can now photograph all those fabulous coffees you make/have
  • if you two got together one could photograph the coffees you make, whilst the other wrote up the flavour profiles! P
  • I dropped loads of hints for a sunbeam em480 burr grinder and on the day received a sunbeam bladed autogrinder. After giving it a work out and finding the right setting I've got to say I've been impressed by the results and it will see me through until I get the above mentioned grinder. I was also given a bag of Guatemalan Organic beans and a 100 grams of mayan xocolat (mayan for chocolate) with ground coffee, cardamomo and chilli wich is very addictive and a good pick me up that she picked up at the Glebe Markets in Sydney. If your interested there is a website www.mayancoffee.com.au they support local Guatemalan growers .
  • well... I've revised this topic as well as it's that time of year again! My wife tends not to buy me much coffee related any more, as she says: if you want something you just go out and get it yourself... so why should I bother! But I got my early christmas present already, a Bezerra Domus Galatea as a belated 40th birthday present to myself, with a Mazzer Super Jolly grinder to go with it! Though I must say, K-mo (short for Kalani Moana - my 18 month old daughter)  gets the most use out of the machine, as I make her between 2 and 4 babychino's a day. Still, its great for when the rellies are around.  And when I want them to go home again, I 'conveniently' run out of coffee, and that usually sends them packing... Also good for mother's (or should I say 'parent's' group - as we had our first 'natural parenting group' here recently) group, and I made coffee for about 7 mums, though it was hard to focus on the machine what with them all being naked and all. Actually, I made that last bit up just to see who's actually tuning in, but I did actually make coffee / decaf / hot chocolate for the mums earlier this week, though the only natural thing about the experience was a shared vision for parenting, which included allowing the kids to do what they want, most of the time, and not feeding them any crap - only good organic food preferred! Cheers, Pat PS - what would other like to fill their christmas stocking?
  • coffee-related christmas wish would be a few kilos of green beans (and something more suitable for roasting than a popcorn popper), or some sort of voucher that I could use all year to get a free pack of fresh beans every week for 2008. That would be nice. Or a coffeelab tamp, just to see what all the fuss is about. Or a job working at ACG's place when the naked yummy mums are over next.
  • I don't really have a specific x-mas wish for this year, I don't usually think of anything that I'd like until after x-mas  ::). Anything that Mrs Lovey and I do end up buying for each other will have to be light weight and compact, as we will be exchanging gifts in Geneva, yay  8-). Some money to help pay for the wedding we just had, and the Swiss holiday at the end of the year would be good, anybody  ;).
  • Hot-top green bean roaster; Sanity; A job working at ACG's place to monitor Matty ... with the coffee, not the mums
  • A sunny day in London. 8-) That will be a treat over christmas. ::)
  • the signing of the lease for my new joint so I can stop worrying about whether its going to go ahead or not! also, a clover machine would be nice...
  • A decent machine.  I initially wanted the ECM Botticelli 2T(that was actually on last year's Christmas List), but it is difficult to get, and the only place selling it wanted $1210, which is hard to pay when I saw it for around $995 last year.  Also, someone told me there was an issue with this machine. Now, I want the Vibiemme that is about $1300.  I would love the Domo SuperBar, but my limit is around $1k.  My girlfriend has been threatening to buy a machine for me(limited to $1k and higher, if I put in the rest).  Although I would love to do this, I can't expect to her to pay that much.   Any other recommendations for awesome machines, or any feedback on the ones mentioned above?
