There's quite a lot of talk over on CoffeeGeek about the festival. Most of it is from disappointed geeks For the general community it's a great event, as is the Rocks Aroma festival in Sydney. For a die-hard coffee fanatic, however, they don't hold that much interest. I had a great time in Melbourne, primarily because I didn't expect the show to be a down-under version of the SCAA conference. Instead I used it as a place to meet people I'd only known online. Hi Guys - I made it down to Melb. for Celebrate and it was actually pretty good. Have met a couple of those Coffee Geek geeks, and they really are dipshit [note: the website wouldn't let me use the word i originally wrote, but it wasn't 'dipnuts'] - poor souls who think they're superior coffee-wise and live in a little world of their own.... Actually Celebrate's a lot of fun for the average coffee drinker; get's a much better quality of audience than Aroma in Sydney. - ;)L

hi boys and girls,                 just a quick note to say how disapointed I was with it all and the organisation of the coffee comp was disturbing to say the least but that is all I will say, apart from how can you run a comp with no fridge for the milk (only 1 of many things that was wrong). But I suppose that at the end of the day if people could learn out if it, the day was'nt totaly wasted. must go now as my tounge is bleeding from biteing it to hard

Well Brian I think you should let us know what you think instead of just biting your tongue. You will be doing the organisers a good turn, as it will help them improve things or atleast re-think things for mext time. Have a go. Mal The Real Koffee Politik.

Brian, I was there as well and must agree with you as I heard it the milk was frozen the nite before, they used different machine in the heats than what were used in the finals, no one was organised, the baristi had no idea what was goining on except if you were with piazza doro..who took out positions 1,2 & 3. The machines used in the finals were san marino which is what the PDoro boys use...funny about that. I think the cafe biz bloke was quite rude to The first comptitor and basically ignored him. They have a lot to learn and since when do you hold a coffee comp outdoors with the hot glaring sun in their eyes? No water, no containers for the dirty crockery, these guys couldn't organise a pissup in a brewery!
