After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.
Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.
Gonzo 8) I am not worried about having lost a sale it happens every day. That is life. One thing I would like to add is, that as part of my committment to my customers, not only do they get my mobile number but also my home number and are urged to call me 24/7 if in the unlikely event they have a problem. Try ringing some of the other resellers on the weekend or after 5pm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JD ;D
John, I notice that the other company mentioned for free in this thread offer the ECM Giotto Premium for no less than you are, without all the stated throw-ins! Having said that, didn't you know, John, it is your job as apparently an online trader that you are required to check every possible alternate trader for their price, call them to see if they can do better, and adjust your price accordingly? (By the way, I was being sarcastic). It's a bit like me going to Fresh saying some shop in Kunnanurra has advertised Diadema's for sale for $2500 but will actually sell them for $2200 and complaining to Fresh that he is too expensive, even though he maybe selling them for $2400! (I have no idea about actual prices). Anyway, some customers you dont want, even if they have bought '3 or 4' high end machines. I know in my line of work, I have had people walk away because they didn't like the way we charged, even though we would have charged significantly less than the competition! (but providing a much better service, I have no doubt). Anyway, John, keep up the good work! ;D P
I am not sure as to why I have been given the tag of an on-line trader. 99.9999999% of my business is by word of mouth and referrals. The Crema adverts are some of the first adverts I have put together. I have put a few advertisements up on the Crema site to help admin get the FOR SALE thingo going and put the Giotto in at the RRP price. Now lets face it, who actually sell things these days at the RRP. For starters I put a few things in as a sweetener. However, there is a limit as to what one can sell an item for. Patrick as you well know, not many traders are going to open up on a Sunday morning and spend 2-3 hours going over the finer points of using an espresso machine. As mentioned previously I am on call 24/7 for my customers. As far as I am concerned I do not have any competition. I forget the persons name from the other page who was looking for a Giotto, however, if he or she had bothered to make contact with me, I am sure I could have made the phone call worth while. Persons like these usually become the "customers from hell" and the ones that you prefer to give them back their money and tell to POQADCB. If I was to take some of Gonzo's attitude pills (no offence) I could really get into this. But, I think that as it is past 3.00pm I will slip down to the cellar and find a good red to celebrate the great day I have had. JD PPPS While letting the red breathe. I would be interested to know if the other sales person has ever used an espresso machine?? Or, if the company bench tests all machines before shipping. I think not.
Sorry John - I think my cynicism/sarcasm was lost in translation - I was writing in your support (for want of a better phrase) characterising how those CFH seem to think all 'venders' should behave in any market place. I have seen first and a half hand your service... ;D P
P I understood what you said and I took no offence. I received an email about being an on-line trader from some misguided person. ??? ??? ??? Will follow up on the pinot. You forgot to say how many cases. 8) JD
Well i picked up my ecm giotto premium today and put it through its paces. Using the Mazzer mini grinder. This Machine is amazing, was well worth the wait. No doubt i need to play with the grinder settings a little more but the first couple of shots were very good indeed. Well i gues tomorrow will be spent drinking lots of coffees so might be a very late night indeed
Congratulations Ppiart... we've had our Giotto for almost 3 months now and have thouroughly enjoyed it. I'm now asked at work if I can bring in some coffee from home. It's a good way to bribe people!!!
I am new to all this coffee mambo jumbo so there is alot of experimenting to be done. I use to own a Saeco magic deluxe and that was simple to use, now i got to figure out what the best grind is how to tamper etc etc etc. Its gonna be fun learning though and alot of coffees to be had. ;D the artist formerly known a ppiart. Thought it was time to sign up
Whilst I am not overly envious as yet of those who have an HX/E61/double boiler etc machine, I can say that I almost poured a full rosetta in my lahtay this morning - all this with a little Saeco Via Vanezia! I would still suggest that, as a starter, this machine is great, and should give most owners a respectable level of upgradeitis. That is, the want to upgrade in the continual search for the perfect espresso, not out of frustration. AND, I must say the learning curve, both in terms of the espresso and milk texturing has been fantastic (I take my stop watch with me whenever I take the machine somewhere). Anyway, there's a Gaggia 3 group lever vintage machine on eBay for about $9,500! (Anyone got any spare cash they can donate to me? ;D) Patrick
