After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

What Machines are we using?

I just thought it would be interesting to see what machines we were all using at work.

  • Hi Sketchy - this is a great idea... it's one of the benefits of the new software [being able to do polls] - will be interesting to see what comes up over the next couple of weeks on this.

  • other being la marzocco (well where I used to work - changed industry)
  • actually Anthology has a point; also Sanmarino, even though they're a pretty basic machine, should probably be included seperately, as there are so many of them around! -A
  • Other Azkoyen Vienna But while we are at it, shouldn't there be a pop quiz to look at what grinders we are using? For surely any machine is only as good as the grinder that's backing it up? Pat
  • I use my own Signature machines. The brand is called DIADEMA and I source them direct from the manufacturer in Italy. Externally they are the manufacturers own standard body but internally, the machines are uprated to my own specifications, the process of a considerable period of years in the coffee and coffee equipment industry. In the training room I have a 2 group volumetric Diadema. Regardz, FC.

Maybe you start the poll with that question. i don't know that many grinder brands or i would. LE
  • Other Reneka Viva S (PID single boiler) ECM Michealangelo
  • Other: La Marzocco Also a Synesso although I think the poll just needs the typo corrected? BenB

Thanks for that. :-[ LE  :)
  • Hi Sketchy - just wondered how results had been going for this... is there any way we can get to view them so far?? Also, can you put in the extra machines suggested (eg la Marzocco) or is that only possible at the beginning? -dR

Hi D R It is saying that i can't add the extra machines sorry. Also im not sure how to show the results so far, maybe admin could help with that. :-/ LE
  • Hi Sketchy - yes, will check this out! -A
  • Hi Sketchy - have checked this out and noticed a couple of options when you set up a poll - one of which might be important... when you set up this poll, did you specify an end-date?? The reason i'm asking this is that it seems like there's an option to: 'Check [ie tick] this box if you do not want the results of this poll shown until voting has been closed'.. I assume you then get to specify an end-date for polling, and that's why no-one can see the results... i guess the only thing is that if you didn't actually specify the end-date, we may never see the results!!! -A PS Sketchy, if i don't hear from you on this in a couple of days, i might do a second poll so we can work this out!!
  • Hi all, Just checked to see if i had checked the box and i hadn't so im not sure how to show the poll, so i've copied and pasted it below LE San Marino   17 (73.9%) Boema             2 (8.6%) La Pavoni       2 (8.6%) La Cimballi      1 (4.3%) Synesso           1 (4.3%) La San Marco  0 (0%) Faema    0 (0%) Other , please specify    0 (0%) Your vote on Nov 18th, 2006, 5:52pm: La Pavoni Total votes: 23
  • OK Sketchy - that's great; have taken the liberty of going in and changing the order slightly (have moved the San Marino figure to the top of the list), to show the most interesting result - namely that 17 out of 23 people polled named San Marino as their machine - which obviously demonstrates that the San Marino machines have a huge market penetration! I'm not sure about you Sketchy, but i think this is pretty interesting - I had no idea that the figure for San marino would be so large!  Does anyone else in the industry have any comments about this - is the San Marino brand a good one, and why does it have such a huge market share!? -A
