After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Bezzera Gea

I've seen this machine: http://www.bezzeracoffeemachine.com.au/product-range/domestic/gea on the bezzera site, and just have no idea why I never see it recommended.

There seem to be very few Bezzera resellers that stock it, or list it, and not one site seems to offer both rotary and vibe pump models, so I have no idea which one is the one for ~$2995

Is it a superceded model? New model? I just think it seems to tick a lot of boxes (really all I want is a BZ99 that isn't ugly).

    The Bezzera Gea will no longer be made in its current format This is due to factory contractual considerations They are however almost identical to the Galatea under the bonnet The Gea will live on in the shape of the Strega Lever HX machine as it uses all the same body and almost all internal fittings and fitted with a Lever piston group head KK

    You seem to have all the Bezzera answers....so the next question is - are there any planned replacements (even only cosmetic) to the BZ99? Guts of a BZ99 in a pretty housing, $2300 would be perfect :D. I just won't be able to stretch to $3k any time soon :(

    There were 3 smaller models that came with the Gea and they have also been stopped from production due to the reason I noted above The BZ99 has been made in almost the same shape for approx 20 years Sometimes it was made under contract for other brands I dont think it will change much in the future Bezzera have made several models for other manufactures in its long history KK

    Hi Richard, You are right in the perfect territory price wise to also consider the wonderful Diadema Junior Plus.  They are a great looking machine and despite a slightly smaller boiler at 1.3L, My Unico Splendor (same internals) has never made me wait irrespective of 1 or 8 mug-a-cinos [sic].  Cosmorex Coffee sell these so you could even shoot them an email from this site. If you did get a BZ99 I'm sure that you'll be thrilled with the coffee it makes, and have great service from Chris at Bezzera... even if the 99 looks like a Silvia on steroids (which I personally don't mind so much)! Keep us in the loop and maybe even start a new thread to stop interlopers like me hijacking this one.
