After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Qantas Club - Coffee

Qantas Club - Coffee ?

Now since the demise of Ansett I have not had the pleasure of a membership to Qantas Club and have only visited once or twice...

But was chatting to one of their baristas today...  On average he does 800 cups for their morning session in Brisbane. Must find out what they pull in a day.

Only single shots and only in the Qantas club cups...

Not sure if this was domestic or international but as he was using a Faema Ambassador I am assuming international.

  • Holy sh*t, big numbers
  • So more cups of coffee in one day than I'd do on my machine in a year...  ??? That's a machine to avoid when it hits eBay!
  • Honest / innocent question.....Do you really think you can trust the numbers this chap gave you?  Is qantas that busy? Is the qantas club that busy? And I am assuming it only caters to people that pay to join or are travelling 1st and business class. Are there that many of them, all the time? My experience is these people always inflate their numbers, regardless of what ever anyone may make of the questions I have just posed. When my boys tell me what some cafe (FOWACM....Food Outlet With A Coffee Machine  ;))  or other has told them they do, and they rush back to tell me, I tell them to go back and sit outside for a short while and count the clients going in and out over a period.  Even just show up at a non lunch or morning coffee hour at random to check the number inside and going in and out.  Then to get out a calciulator and extrapolate by the number of hours the place is likely to be open. Its rough but by golly you can pick the liars oops I'm sorry I mean "game players".
  • I have not been in the Qantas club (domestic terminal) in Brisbane for a while, but have only seen superautos in there. The same in Perth, Sydney and Adelaide. The domestic terminals are very busy with more than one machine being used constantly. Have not been to the international airport in Brissy so cannot comment. Even the "Chairmans club" in SA does not have a Barista, just a superauto machine. 800 in a morning session is a lot, but easy to achieve given the sheer numbers of people that go through the Qantas club in the domestic terminals. I will make inquiries with someone I know who works for Qantas.

Qantas club is open to frequent flyers. With people commuting (FIFO) to mine sites via Qantas, it is very easy to rack up FF points and become a gold member, which includes automatic access to the lounge. It is amazing how many people visit the lounges. Some mornings in Perth, it is standing room only, and that is before 6am!
  • FC - we need a better acronym Brett  - you need to drink more coffee, lots more
