After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Pushbike Riders and persuing a coffee along the way.

  • Bike riders in town here currently go for convenience. Worst coffee in town has most bike racks and or hooks on the verandah next door :P Working toward a plan to fix this issue. Melbourne is a bit better generally, to much good coffee including at a couple of bike shops. Bike Tip if your planning on doing some hard riding post coffee avoid milk ones or they will clag your throat up. LB or Espressos are the go and plenty of water.

The bike riders in my areas seem to be a great indicator of good coffee. All the best places are where they gather :(
what town/city are you in Richard? In Sydney the 'high-powered' groups tend to congregate at Bar Coluzzi/Latteria in Victoria St, Darlinghurst - not exactly paragons of good coffee... From memory, in Melbourne it's Cafe Racer - great place, but once again, not noted for the quality of coffee!! dR

I'm in Toowoomba - despite being slightly regional, we have some exceptional coffee places (and also some shockers). We also have a lot of bike riders, and fantastic terrain.

Far to much Lycra and Beach Rd warriors there for my liking. Richmond Rush Cafe does a really nice coffee in a bike shop. Some of the better coffee shops round Melbourne cater for bikes pretty well, I got indoor parking at 7 seeds last time I was there  :)

So you think that to much Lycra is no good Edit I have removed the funny Lycra clad men photo link (reasons are in the following posts) Everyone has had a little chuckle  ;D KK

You could just about tell their religion.
  • Yep way to much of a visual  :o Padded baggy Bike riding shorts are as riding gear as I am getting.

Same as may other so called visual sports.. Is the gear for Viewers OR does it Actually offer a physical performance value.  I the case above, I doubt that a rudder will assist with steering or reduced windage. Yes,  viewers up the sponsors rating and marketing but what about the actual performance of the poor person that has to endure.
Think of the children.... why does nobody think of the children... "Dadda, why is that man carrying a Banana, that man carrying plums and DEAR GOD , Dadda... Grandad had Cauliflower Ear but that man has Cauliflower Winkie!"

;D Much nicer KK. Ticked up 120km this week after a non forecast Sunny afternoon encouraged me to 55km after work today. Feeling so pure dark chocolate is in order to remove some of the benefit.  :) Should note these km's were not done on a race bike or with the aid of Lycra  ;)
  • Righto you slackers Spring has started so pull you bikes out dust them off oil the gears and get on them  :) Did a 70km ride yesterday and the offering for coffee was spooned Instunt topped up with steamed milk so I need to change the direction of my riding I think. Tonight's 20km cruise in the Spring time sun followed by a Stout or two is much more pleasant  8) This means you too 'A' when you finish suffering from manflu  ;)
  • Had a nice 30km ride this morning with about 14 of the social riding crew in town and had them drop back to the shop to finish up the last of some mycuppa Ethiopian Yirg  :thumb: . Think I might have the local riding coffee thing sorted, just make my own  :) Couple of weeks ago some of us did a 95km ride broken in the middle by fresh ground plunger and gourmet sandwiches so very civilized. Sunday weeks trip on the same trail is a charity ride with some time constraints and a 7am start so instunt and thermos water  is likely :'( Also cross graded bikes in my life and purchased a proper road bike along with the flat bar for trail use, so far still resisting the Lycra but I have ordered cleated pedals  ::) $360 and virtually brand new thank you evilbay
  • Just a few pics of my new coffee chasing device. Still needs a few mods as it is a track bike with NO BRAKES and no freewheel ??? To be fitted to the back wheel is a nice autochange hub with old school style back pedal brakes  8) Result is exceptionally light and zero cables and levers on it. Yes I know it needs pedals too.  ;)
  • nice fixie  :thumb:
  • I do love Felt bikes. Own a T23 myself.
