After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Videos of your Coffee Roaster or a Dream Roaster

Hi all
I thought of starting a thread for videos of

1] Your own home or work coffee roaster or roasts
2] Unique rosters you have seen
3] Roasters you would like to own

Post you video links on this thread so we can all share in the excitement

Just to get things of and running, today I took some short videos of the KKTO and put them on my Blog

I want a KKTO Mark II  Based on a Super sized TO (aprox 50% bigger). Now to find one or something close to it...
The business plan for the KKTO kit version is to put all profits towards the next model phase All plans are drawn and waiting the funds to start a fully assembled 1 kg to 1.5 kg roaster  All with a specifically made TO that is fit for purpose  The TO will have a separate plug in module for user controlled roasts But it wont happen unless we sell lots of KKTO kits KK
  • Hi mate - good idea - thanks for this... might even open a Crema page to do this as well - will check out if our 'Gallery' can support video also. A
  • Hi KK - have checked this out, and all things being [technologically] equal, we should have this facility up on our Gallery by Monday - we're aiming to host it natively [rather than having to host on Youtube]. cheers A
  • I found a novel idea for a coffee roaster - so decided to post it Enjoy KK [embed=425,349]
  • Here's a KISS video of my KKTO with 700gms of Costa Rica La Pala to be included in post blending for espresso. Sorry for the average quality and focusing problems. Co starring the G@G bean cooler. [embed=425,349] Gary at G
  • Wow those beans are flying GG. Can you vary the RPM of the motor with your set up ? Good results though :thumb: Did your times vary by removing the heat shield and bending the fan blades ?
  • i believe that's the speed which the agitation blades spins derrilex. Perhaps it is a tad faster than other KKTO videos seen on Youtube but not that much faster and the beans are mixed well and receiving a balanced heat input for an even result. I dont think i can vary the motor speed from knowledge. As per times, before i was achieving 24-27 minute times. With the modifications of removing the heat shield and angling the fan blades from it's previous 90 degrees of angle, i carefully angled them (which is not hard to do as they are made of cheese, i mean, thin steel) for more direct heat and air distribution. This mod brings times down to 16 - 19 minutes. Am happy with the result, with an improvement in the  cup. In due time, i'll put up some videos of my coretto and the FZRR700 Baby Roaster.  :) Gary at G
  • Cool, I'm running about 20 mins total roast time with a few mods to a element type ( which made no difference). I now have a halogen one too and I will remove the shield and see what happens
  • This is the Toper 15 kilo unit in the rear of the Cafe.. [embed=425,349]<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/JcBWsbX2RP4"; frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>[/embed]
  • This is  a video of my Torrefattore 2kg manual roaster---please excuse the quality as it was shot on my mobile phone during a roasting session:-
  • Well made video and great looking results there Garyw. :thumb: I couldn't access your video greenman. Its says it is private i,m afraid. I did a video of the Baby Roaster but no sound was the result, so i guess i'll have to try another batch with the mobile phone instead of the Kodak.
  • Fantastic setup Greenman... just superb!!  Do you on-sell to recover some of your costs or is your setup the ultimate hobby indulgence?

I've got a few customers,  friends and family I supply but it's mainly a mega indulgence, a few  friends my age bought caravans and boats, a coffee roaster was far more appealing to me!! ;) :) :) :) :)

Way to go  :thumb: And comments from neighbours, re the exhaust out the window
I always make sure there is a good breeze blowing before roasting  so as not to upset the neighbourhood harmony, with a good breeze the smoke dissipates fairly quickly, so far so good!! ::) :thumb:
